2019: Re-Electing Buhari Will Pose Danger To Nigeria – Lamido

MAIDUGURI – Dr. Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State and presidential aspirant for the 2019 election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has warned that re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari for the second term in 2019 would pose a great danger to Nigeria.
Lamido spoke on Monday evening when he addressed PDP delegates and supporters at the Forshams Hall, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

He said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has turned blackmail to an instrument of threatening opposition to defect to it, saying that politicians like Godswill Akpabio, Danjuma Goje, Musliu Obanikoro and Orji Uzo Kalu, among others, were all blackmailed to join the party.

The PDP Presidential hopeful, however, maintained that if elected president in 2019, one of his focuses would be to develop the Nigerian teeming youths who had been abandoned to joblessness, anger and frustration.
On allegations that the PDP government was a government marred by corruption and looting in their 16 years in power, the Jigawa born politician described the allegations as false, saying that Nigerians are in greater pain and abject poverty in APC’s three years in power than in the PDP era.
“The only instrument the APC has is blackmail. If you are in PDP, you will be labelled a thief, but the moment you defect from the PDP to APC, you are considered a saint.”

As for me, no amount of intimidation or blackmail will pull me out of PDP, the only consistent party from 1999 to date that has not changed,” Lamido said.
Lamido, however, condemned killings in some parts of the country including Borno and northeast and regretted the situation where citizens have turned Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in their homes.
He said that he was in Borno to solicit for support from all and sundry in the forthcoming PDP Delegates Conference to elect a presidential candidate who is prepared to defeat President Buhari and bring succour to Nigerians.
“I want to thank you for coming out en masse to receive me and my entourage at the airport to this arena. APC is a bunch of hypocrites, it is a party that does not have a vision, and if care is not taken, Nigeria will collapse under APC if voted into power again.
“I will restore Nigeria unity which has been divided along religious and ethnicity in addition to hate speech by the APC government. I will also restore power generation, free education and all socio-economic problems facing the nation,” Lamido added.
Earlier, Musa Elayo, the Director General of Lamido Campaign Organisation, thanked Borno PDP supporters for their solidarity in trooping out en masse to receive the Presidential hopeful and his delegation at the Maiduguri International airport to the venue of the event.
He regretted that PDP is as a strong opposition in the state since 1999, has not win governorship election in the history of Borno, and called on the party faithful to eschew their differences and put away their personal interest in order to come out victorious come 2019.
Meanwhile, Usman Mahdi Baderi, the PDP state Chairman, has described Lamido as a credible leader, and if given the mandate, he will take Borno and Nigeria as a whole to a promised land.
