Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Secretary to the Akwa Ibom state government today in uyo, the state capital  has escaped from being lynched by some irate  youths alleged to be Youths of Mbo state state constituency.

According to reports via social media, the youths numbering over 200 invaded EMJMM hotel in the Uyo metropolis where the SSG was slated to have a meeting with stakeholders of the PDP from Mbo.

Findings revealed that the youths stormed venue of the meeting in a commando style scattering both chairs and tables arranged for the meeting while stakeholders who sat for the meeting scampered for safety.

According to a source who pleaded his name not to be mention, it took a team of riot looking police men from different units to escort the SSG through an emergency exit in the hotel from the venue. He hinted that Ekuwem was held hostage inside the hotel for an hour after the youth took over the hotel.

Asked, what the meeting was all about, he said the meeting was supposed to discuss and harmonise on the issue of zoning as it concerns Mbo state constituency seat ahead of 2019 election.

Some of the PDP Stakeholders reportedly sighted at the venue of the meeting include, Mr. Chris Abasieyo, Council chairman of Mbo, National officer of the PDP from Mbo, Bishop Ante; chapter chairman of the PDP among others.

Our correspondent gathered that the  current occupant of the seat is from Udesi, while the SSG is from Uda in Effiat political bloc. Another said placards displayed by the youth at the venue of the event has a protest inscriptions insisting that the SSG should bring the meeting to Mbo.

According to political statistics, it is noted that the member that represented Mbo State Constituency between 2007- 2011, and 2011- 2015, Mrs Alice Ekpenyong hails from Uda, Ekuwem's community.

Information gathered further states that Udesi, where the current member hails from is currently serving its first term of four years, hence the youth are insisting that Udesi community must also do a two term in the House of Assembly.

Should Akwa Ibomites consider this as a technical invasion by the Hitler's?
