The political ambience of Eket Federal Constituency was yesterday charged following the entrant of Hon. Patrick Nathan Ifon, former field operations/ logistic Commissioner, Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) in the race for Eket Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly, 2019.
It was a moment of jubilation across the four local governments; Eket ONNA, Esit Eket, Ibeno, which constitute the federal constituency as major politicians, grassroots declared full support to the aspiration, citing his antecedents and proven capacity as the rationale.
Declaring his stance to contest in 2019, Pat Ifon consulted his family members, village, and his ward to inform them of his willingness to be a servant leader in the house of representative, standing and speaking for Eket Federal Constituency.
Otuekong Ifon in his remarks reminded the people of the reason everyone should sacrifice greed, selfishness and sentiments on the altar of sincerity, if effective and dividends- driven representation is truly the yearning of the people.
He urged the people to support a candidate that is on ground, who can win election for the party even in the face of any tough opposition, someone who feel the pulses of the people and has capacity to defend the federal constituency during public discourse.

“It takes someone who understands the nitty-gritty of oil politics, familiar with constitutional provisions and knows the maneuverings in a forum of mixed ideology and intellectuality, to garner something that will commensurate their contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s economy"
“I understand the language of the green chamber, I have the required certifications and experiences that can guarantee Eket Federal Constituency of a robust representation" He added.
The ward Chairman, Mr. Ekerette Rufus, while presenting the Aspirant to the people said Pat Ifon is an archetype of very sincere person with rare leadership qualities.
Rufus, said that in 1999, Hon. Pat Ifon came into ONNA politics as the light that transformed so many youths into men, and that so many people still praise him in absentia following his sowed seeds that has germinated.
The Ward Chairman, said the party has no alternative but to be solidly behind his aspiration and promise to stand by him to deliver the mandate together.
The Ag. Chief of Ikot Akpan Ishiet village, Chief Akpan Chalie, said Pat Ifon is a tested and trusted son that has never failed when saddled with any public responsibility.
Chief Charlie stated further that he knows Pat Ifon so well to be able to attest of his sincerity, and leadership qualities, confirming that he is Square peg in a square hole.
Pat Ifon who hails from, Ikot Akpan Ishiet, Awa ward (3) in ONNA LGA. Is one known for his humanitarian and patriotic ethos, which formulates the reason his name is a mantra on the lips of the electorates.
According to the people "of all the contestants, Pat Ifon stands tall glaringly, his known antecedents in the political circle, dwarfs every intention of the nascent politician".
Six villages of Awa ward (3) unanimously endorsed Hon. Pat Ifon as their sole candidate for Eket Federal Constituency race in 2019.
