MY FIRST 730DAYS OF PRESIDENCY WILL BIRTH A NEW DAWN IN ECONOMY - DAVID MARK

By Martins Inyangetoh

Former Senate President and one of the leading Presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator David Mark, has said that the first 730 days of his tenure as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, if elected, will birth a new dawn in the socio-political and socio-economic fortune of the country.

Senator Mark made this known on Thursday when he led members of his Presidential Campaign Team on a consultation visit to the State Secretariat of PDP in view of his Presidential Aspiration.

Addressing the Akwa Ibom State delegates to the PDP National Convention, Senator Mark said he has the political will, courage, wealth of experience, and requisite capacity to positively turn around the economic and political fortunes of Nigeria, if given the opportunity to lead the country as President.

“I have the political will, courage, capacity and have garnered all the requisite experiences to solve the problems that are bedeviling the country. For instance, the level of insecurity and unemployment in the country have assumed an unimaginable state and I have the knowledge and wealth of experience to tackle the problems head on,” he said.

“I know this warmth reception and overwhelming support that you have accorded me today will translate to overwhelming votes for me during the Presidential primary and I am convinced that if I emerge as the flag bearer of our great party, together we will win for the party the Presidency in the forthcoming general elections. And in my 730 days as a President, I will turn around the economic and political fortunes of our dear Nation,” Senator Mark maintained.

“Although what I have asked for is the Presidential ticket of PDP but if I am not selected as a candidate in a free, fair and credible elections, I will support whoever emerges as the candidate of the party. We will work and support the party together so that our party can return to power at the centre,” he added.

Responding on behalf of the Akwa Ibom delegates, the State Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, expressed gratitude to the aspirant and members of his Campaign Team for the honour done the State Chapter of the party by coming to solicit their support in the forthcoming Presidential primary.

The Chairman admonished Senator Mark to remain resolute in his aspiration as the party is poised to conduct a free, fair and credible primary, saying that “the candidate that will emerge will be the true reflection of the position of the people and represents the decision of the party faithful and Akwa Ibom delegates will support the party's choice.”

Others who spoke during the visit were Senator Effiong Bob, Senator Helen Esuene, Senator Emmanuel Ibok-Essien, Senator Anietie Okon among others.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of party memoirs to the aspirant by the State PDP Chairman.
