WHAT PRESIDENT BUHARI TOLD AKWA IBOM APC LEADERS AS ACHIEVEMENTS WITHIN THREE YEARS IN OFFICE

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, September 17, 2018 played host to high-powered delegation from Akwa Ibom state who were on a courtesy visit to the him. 


The President said he noticed in the delegation his constant political associates and supporters as well as new ones who joined the train earlier and indeed others who have just joined in the latest change of political camps. 

"I have taken note of your appreciation of the appointments into the Federal service from your State and assure you that I shall continue to be fair and equitable in Federal appointments to all states and constituent parts of the country." 


"On infrastructure,  thank you for appreciating the award of contract for the Dualization of Odukpani- Itu (spur to Ididep Itam)- Ikot Ekpene road in the initial contract sum of N54.17 Billion Naira."


"We have provided the sum of N11 Billion Naira in the 2018 budget for the award of the outstanding portion of the road in Akwa Ibom State and the Federal ministry of power, Works and housing has commenced the procurement process of this tranche."


The President pointed out that Two weeks ago, contract for the reconstruction of Abak- Ekparakwa- Ete- Ikot Abasi was awarded in the sum of N5.89 Billion.


"The Federal government has also provided for the Ibom deep sea port and city for which initial provision of N2.2 Billion has been made in the 2018 budget." 

Again, contract for the construction and furnishing of the faculty of Law building at the main campus of the University of Uyo has been awarded in the sum of N873.1million. 


"I have approved that  the construction of Section 5 of the East West road :Oron (Akwa Ibom)--Calabar (Cross River) states  be one of the major priority projects to be funded under the Forum of  China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) arrangement with the Chinese Government. "


"In the power sector the construction of power substation in Ibiono, Akwa Ibom to boost power supply to adjoining local governments and parts of Cross River State adjacent thereto is being procured."

Meanwhile, The delegation, led by the former Governor and Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Godswill Akpabio took time to appreciate the President for the momentous  achievement recorded by his administration within a span of three years and also intimated the President of their expectations in the coming years. 


The Chairman of APC Caucus in Akwa Ibom state, chief Don Etiebet who read the position of the delegation said, "We are all here to thank you and your administration for your favours to Akwa Ibom State in terms of Federal appointments and infrastructural developments  touching diverse sectors in the State. 

Your Excellency, we are very grateful for our sons and daughters' appointments including but not limited to Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Ita Solomon Enang, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters, Obong Umana Okon Umana, our erstwhile Gubernatorial candidate in the 2015 elections as Managing Director of Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, His Excellency, Obong Nsima Ekere as Managing Director/CEO of Niger Delta Development Commission, Engr Benedict Ukpong, Commissioner, National Population Commission, Dr (Mrs) Ebong Okon, Chairman of Directorate of Education Research and Statistics Board, among others in Boards, Commissions and Agencies, whether they are APC members or not."

"For infrastructure and development we are very pleased and indeed highly elated at what your  Government has done on Road projects like the Calabar-Itu-Ikot Ekpene Road whose dualisation had been moribund  through several governments in the past since the second republic, the completion of the East - West Road and the proposed East - West Railway Line directly through Federal Budget and others done through Federal Agencies like the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC), among others."

 He said the delegation were in villa to renew their loyalty and support to the administration, and more importantly, at this time, to pledge an unalloyed commitment to supporting the second term bid of Mr President. 

The visit was Facilitated by Senator Ita Enang, Presidential Liaison to the National Assembly and also had in attendance, Minister Udom Udoma, Obong Umana Okon Umana, Obong Nsima Ekere, 

Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Capt Sam Enwang, Engr. Ita Awak, Comrade Essien Inyang, Obong Inibehe Okori, Bar. Udeme Ekot, and other prominent citizens of Akwa Ibom state.
