Despite his projects and celebrated accomplishments in office, Governor Udom Emmanuel says he does not expect to get commendations from the opposition in Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking with Government House correspondents at the Ibom International Airport, shortly on arrival from an official assignment in Abuja, Governor Emmanuel said his achievements are being celebrated by the people and that is what matters most.
“Have you ever seen where your enemy says you are doing well? No. What we are doing is about the people, and their happiness settles everything.”
The Governor said that the reality on ground is different from the propaganda of the opposition, adding that the people are aware of the reality.
Governor Emmanuel who is a member of the Presidential Screening Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP said the quality of presidential aspirants in his party was very high.
He said his panel will examine the capacity, pedigree and economic potentials in an aspirant among other criteria before settling for a candidate.
Mr Emmanuel who said that an aspirant must first show how he had impacted in his community, maintained that “if you cannot love your people, you cannot love the whole country.”
He however said that all the 12 aspirants in the party, have the capacity to lead in any country of the world.
“All our 12 aspirants are equally qualified to govern any country in Africa. They can lead well in any part of the world,” he added.
