FORMER PRESIDENT’S VISIT SYMBOLIZES GOODWILL AND ENDORSEMENT OF GOV UDOM EMMANUEL

---AKS INFO BOSS

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh has said, the visit to Governor Udom Emmanuel by the Elder statement and Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is a mark of goodwill which the Governor has garnered within his three and half years of governance.

Speaking recently on a LIVE Inspiration 105.9FM Radio programme,”Talking Point”, the Information Commissioner said, it is significant that out of 36 States in Nigeria, a former President chose to visit  Akwa Ibom and present the Governor to the people for support in his re-election bid, noting that, the act by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was a clear demonstration of endorsement of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Charles Udoh who spoke glowingly on the giant strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel said, it was not surprising that, the former President mentioned the good governance of Governor Udom Emmanuel which he said, he had carried out an independent assessment before his arrival to the state adding that, it is unprecedented for any government to construct 11 operational industries in just 3 years of administration.

He extolled the high profile rating of Governor Udom Emmanuel by the former president and even the Federal Government disclosing that the Governor’s superlative performance and high sense of integrity won him the Integrity and National Service Award by the Federal Government some months back.

Udoh listed the unparalleled achievements of the Governor to include the construction of over 1700km of roads, 35 bridges, 11 functional industries, payment of 10 years backlog of gratuities, free and compulsory education, free healthcare service to children 0-5 years, pregnant women and the aged, annual payment of over N600 Million WAEC Fee for indigene students in public secondary schools as well as payment of up-to-date Salaries Pensions.

On allegation that the Divine Mandate Campaign Team was summoned by the Inspector- General of Police, IG, on grounds that, the President’s billboards were vandalized in the state, the Commissioner said, the act was a clear demonstration of the direction of Democracy as practiced at the centre wondering if anybody has ever seen any billboard of the President erected anywhere in the state and why the same IG did not summon anybody or group when a Police station was razed in Oron during the primaries of a political party in the State.

He said right thinking people of the state who have followed keenly the political overtures in the state know where to stand if the state must be moved forward towards the path of development and urged all especially the youths not to allow themselves be pushed into thuggery and criminality by selfish politicians who are trying to paint a picture of chaos and insecurity in the state urging all to uphold the virtue of Akwa Ibom as the safest and peaceful state in Nigeria.

While dismissing the rumours that market women were sponsored to kick against the erection of a billboard within Akpan Andem market, the Information Boss said, Governor Udom Emmanuel cannot stoop so low to go into such trivial and petty issue that is detrimental to peace and security of the state, as the Governor has zero-tolerance for impunity and insecurity and is a global recognized brand in integrity and peace.
