Exclusive: YOU ARE NO LONGER MY SON, CHIEF AFANGIDEH TELLS AKPABIO

…Fmr Gov Plagued for Insulting Afe Annang Rulers*

The political leader of Annangland, Chief Michael Afangideh has reportedly told his godson Senator Godswill Akpabio to find another godfather, as such relationship has ceased to exist between them.

Chief Afangideh is said to have rebuffed several emissaries sent to him by the Senator, and also stopped picking repeated calls from the immediate past governor.

Afangideh, who finally picked the call of the ex leade through a strange number, told him that the leadership of the Annang people have already taken a decision to support Udom and would not follow in a treacherous adventure.

Akpabio, unlike his usual boastful and confident voice, used a rather subdued voice to say, My father, it is me your son.

Chief Afangideh told him pointblank, Godswill I think I have told you that I am no more your father and please don't call me again and dropped the call. But he has been sending emissaries and mounting pressure on Chief from third parties he knows are close to Chief", he said.

This comes as one of the fallouts of the recent visit to the Governor by the Annang Royal Fathers, led by Okuku Pius Esideh, the Itai Afe Annnang.

Senator Godswill Akpabio had insulted the apex socio political group of Annang traditional rulers, Afe Nkuku Annang, for visiting Governor Udom Emmanuel to declare support for his second term at Government House, Uyo.

Akpabio called the Annang fathers a greedy bunch of hungry old men who went to a small Ibibio boy to curry favour, instead of coming to him for food.

Subsequently, a strange ailment which has allegedly hit the former Senate Minority Leader, according to  sources close to him reveal, comes in form of seizures and convulsion which have led him to consult some spiritualists for help.

"When in that state, he starts seeing old people that had passed away many years ago. Oga strongly feels that maybe there is a spell on him for saying that the leadership of Afe Annang that visited the Governor some weeks back were there as "beggars" and that if they were that hungry, they should have come to him", said a source who pleaded annonimity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter due to the sensitive nature of the issue.

Investigation reveals that the former Governor coming to this realization that he might have offended the apex Traditional stool of Annang land has been making frantic efforts to reach his former political father, Chief M.A. Afangideh to no avail.

According to a source, "He (Akpabio) made several attempts with his line to talk to Chief Afangide on phone and plead with him to lead him to appease the gods of Annang land but the Chief refused to answer his calls. He then used a different line after about two hours to call Chief Afangideh and the old man innocently answered not knowing it was Akpabio calling with a strange number".
