The foundation of success in life is good health: that is the substratum fortune. It is also the basis of happiness. Ultimately, a person cannot accumulate a fortune very well if not in good health. This is without an iota of doubt, the truth. Health is wealth and has never been mere lines of thought or an expression in exaggeration but telling the truth with evidential proof. Without good health, one is incapacitated, inactive and unable to undergo any life task no matter what it may be. One Without good health must have been expunged by illness all the sweet dividends of life .
Recognizing that good governance goes beyond construction of good roads, provision of industries and empowerment of the populace. Governor Udom Emmanuel, has taken a step to ensure that no fault is found in his government. Records have shown that in the past three and a half years of Governor Udom leds administration, the health sector have witnessed a total revolution, revamping, rehabilitation and rebirth much to the excitement of the masses who have benefited immensely from the development. In boosting child birth and delivery, Governor Emmanuel has ensured that there is free medical services for pregnant women, children and has stretch the hands of good governance to the aged in the society. He has however ensured procurement of about twenty-five containers of state-of-the art equipment to make way for efficient, accessible, affordable, and people oriented health service system.
Apart from the procurement of equipment, the State Governor has ensured the rehabilitation, construction and upgrading of secondary healthcare facilities across the state. This includes the reconstruction and equipping of General hospital, Etinan, which was last year commissioned by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo. The reconstruction of Emmanuel hospital, Eket, General hospital at Iquita and reconstruction of Ikono General hospital. Most of these institutions are fully digitalized with improved health information management system. The state government in partnership with FEYREP; the pet project of the wife of the Governor, has continually provided liss to mal-nourish children, free screening and treatment to people with various eye diseases.
The quest to position the health sector in an enviable height and guarantee that we have quality and qualify manpower led to the training of over twenty biomedical engineers, provision of residential quarters for 48 house officers in the state hospital and 50 at the University of Uyo teaching hospital. With much effort, the Governor has continued to break new ground and build smiles on the faces of Akwa Ibomite. Accreditation has also been obtained for courses in the School of Midwifery, Ituk Mbang, to ensure that health personnel produced from this school are capable of rendering excellent health services to the people residing in the state. Provision has also been made for the smooth take-off of the Health Insurance Scheme, while the Primary Healthcare Development Agency has been established to ensure efficiency in Primary Healthcare delivery.
Our ebullient Governor has left a footprint in the sands of time and so wishes to improve on it. Vividly, he has promised to do far better in 2019 and beyond. This depends on our commitment as a people being as strong as his determination to better our lots. As the nation undergoes another transition period, there is need for caution on the part of the populace, to reserve the right to determine who they give their vote and to be cautious of who they elect as leaders. While we play politics, let us not lose our priorities and travel the lone way with trivialities. The only way to ensure that the perfect job done by Governor is sustain, is to extend our hands of fellowship to him by voting the only party that has continue to improve our lives. Take responsibility of your own happiness, never put it in other people’s hands. Lets live our peace and have it. Akwa Ibom State can grow stronger with ONLYGOD and no criminally motivated ONE chance can take that away.
