Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted a former chairman of the Auchi branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), A.O. Itemuagbo and killed his wife in the process.
It was gathered that Itemuagbo was kidnapped at Ehor, on the Benin-Auchi road in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of the state.
While his wife was reportedly killed, Itemuagbo is said to have been whisked away to unknown destination.
It was gathered that the kidnappers were yet to make contact with anyone over the incident.
Meanwhile, the state chairman of the NBA, Collins Ogiegbaen, who confirmed the incident, said the lawyer was accosted by the gunmen on his way to Benin, the state capital.
He said: “Yes. Itemuagbor was kidnapped at Ehor and his wife killed. It is unfortunate. I hope the police will succeed in releasing him unhurt and arrest the kidnappers.”
When contacted, the Edo state police command spokesperson, Chidi Nwanbuzor, urged to be given time and that he would get back to this reporter.
However, as at the time of filing this report, he had not.
Also, the Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, could not be reached as calls placed to his phone number were not answered.
