GOV.UDOM EMMANUEL: IN THE EYES OF THE PEOPLE

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr.Udom Emmanuel, in his almost four years administration as the state’s helmsman, has proven doubters wrong, setting the pace and a template for a redefined leadership in our society.

It is not about Akwa Ibom State, it is the fact that a man has committed himself to the leadership and service to the people. That man is Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Naysayers will agree with me that, in the eyes of Akwa Ibom people, Udom Emmanuel remains the best man to have mounted the saddle of leadership in the state. He has prudently managed the state’s resources, with no extravagant expenses and lavishing of the state’s money on frivolous things, like we experienced in the last administration in the state.

What I try to juxtapose, is the governing models between the former Governor of Anambra State, now Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr.Peter Obi and the Akwa Ibom Governor.

Recollect that, both came from the banking sector to govern their respective states, and after eight years of governance by Peter Obi, never a time was it reported that the anti graft agencies were after Peter Obi. This could be attributed to his financial background in the banking industry.

Eight years after, Peter Obi had left Anambra better than he met it. Despite contesting the governorship elections in the state against the then PDP controlled Federal Government, he emerged victorious at the polls.

We are experiencing a similar Anambra debacle today in Akwa Ibom State, where Governor Udom Emmanuel is contesting for a second term against an APC controlled Federal Government. But Akwa Ibom people haven looked at his credentials and performance in office, in unison, has said, Udom deserves a second term.

Has the people fared better, since the Governor took the reins of office? Yes. Needless relishing his achievements here, but it is visible even to the blind, that within four years, there have been an industrial revolution in the state.

This is a Governor that has taken the welfare of workers and retirees in the state as a top priority. In the absence of a Federal allocation, he was able to pay workers an up to date salaries, when most APC states were owing, while some were struggling and having arrears of salaries to the tune of 10 months.

The people of Akwa Ibom have said that, if Udom Emmanuel was a ‘mistake,’ and could go this far, then we will repeat this ‘mistake’ again and again, until it will become a permanent mistake.

Even in remote areas, Governor Udom and the PDP has given succor to the aged, and hope to the hopeless. No other political party has affected the lives of people in Akwa Ibom than the PDP. If PDP was a ‘god,’ there are people who will practically worship it.

The market woman, the artisan, the laborer in Akwa Ibom understands only a language, and that is the return of Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term in 2019. Akwa Ibom people do not want later day Prophets, who come to them in the days of elections, and run away from the people after elections. They know that the Peoples Democratic Party has a larger heart to accommodate more persons, as it has done in the past.

What we should rather focus on, is not whether Governor Udom will win a second term, but we should be rather focused on the things we want him to do for us in his second term.

The Governor is not a loud mouthed Leader, who is loquacious in speeches, with vague promises, he is a man of his word.

I enjoin Akwa Ibom people today, to sustain the peace we have enjoyed in this administration for another round of four years. Governor Udom brings you peace and prosperity, vote for him, vote for the PDP.

When they come with WARSAW, the Lord will raise a standard against them.

I will end with Psalm 20:7 which says, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

WE WILL NEVER BOW TO BABYLON.
