AKSG TO TAKE OVER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS IN EASTERN OBOLO

The Akwa Ibom State Government has concluded plans to take over community schools, especially those with high students population in Eastern Obolo Local Govt Area.


Governor Udom Emmanuel, who dropped the hint during a campaign rally in the area, explained that the decision is to enable government to also provide free and compulsory education to students there.

Governor Emmanuel reassured youths of the area that he was on a drive in his next term to provide more employment, empowerment and make sure the youths have reliable sources of livelihood.

He noted that some youths may not understand the economic importance of the coconut plantation there until after eight years of his administration.

Mr Emmanuel told them that the state government was interfacing with the NNPC over the various uncapped oil wells, with a view to erasing any controversy on the oil production status of the Local Government Area, and the need for the exploration of oil in Eastern Obolo to be handled by International Oil Companies  for the greater benefit of the people.

Reacting to reports received during the rally, the Governor promised to take steps to reduce the mortality rate in communities across the river and fix the cottage hospital there to become fully operational.

He announced the mobilization of a firm, Niger Pet for the construction of the Okoroette- Amadaka - Eleli road and other internal roads, which he personally flagged off on his way to the campaign venue.

The Governor, who said that he has a partnership with the people of Eastern Obolo as the state's Chief Executive urged them to extend the partnership to the PDP Senatorial hopeful, Mrs Akon Eyakenyi, their son, Mr Francis Uduyok, seeking re-election into the House of Representatives, and Mr Uduak Odudoh for House of Assembly.

The Director General of the Divine Mandate, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga thanked the people of Eastern Obolo for standing by the truth and supporting Governor Emmanuel, whom he described as a man of peace.

The DG told the people that they can restore everything they lost including their natural resources and advised them to vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor Emmanuel, and other PDP candidates to get the country working again.

The State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo expressed delight over the turn out and reminded youths and women of the decision by the PDP Presidential candidate to dedicate 70% role in governance to youths and women and urged them to take advantage by voting for the Umbrella party.

The Senatorial candidate, Dr Mrs Eyakenyi, the Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency candidate, Rt Hon Francis  Charles and Ikot Abasi-Eastern Obolo candidate, Rt Hon Odudoh affirmed the resolve by the people to vote the PDP and assured the Governor of nothing less.

The Local Government Chairman, Mr Victor Oromene, Youth Leader, Engineer Festus Sunday and two elders, Sir Levi Uzono and Chief Effikaro Effet all expressed appreciation to the Governor for the development brought to the area and assured of support.

Earlier, the Governor had visited the Paramount Ruler of Eastern Obolo, Rt. Hon. Elder Ubong Harry John Etetor, to intimate him of his re-election ambition.

The Governor had explained the efforts of his government to attract development, such as a refinery to provide jobs, with a promise to open up Eastern Obolo, having said that the Independent Power Substation at Ekim maybe inaugurated on or before April this year.

The royal father used the opportunity to call on government to build bridges to link the communities across the river and expedite action for the return of his Amasaba group of villages to the ancestral home before the elections.

The Paramount Ruler appreciated the Governor for being the first to travel down to interact with Eastern Obolo people and blessed the Governor with symbolic gifts for the task ahead.
