PRESS RELEASE: APC, NSIMA; STOP INTIMIDATING AKWA IBOM ELIGIBLE VOTERS

Obong S. Ayanga, HDP Guber Candidate

Fellow Akwa Ibomites, it is saddening that our once peaceful and safe State is at the risk of being overtaken by men of evil agendas without giving considerations to its aftermath negative signifance on Akwa Ibomites.

The plans and thoughts of APC is not for the genuine interest of developing Akwa Ibomites neither their actions geared towards good governance.

As we all anticipate  the beginning of a new and greater Akwa Ibom State under my leadership as the next governor of the state  come March 9; It is politically salient to note that we (Akwa Ibom State) contributes largely to the growth and sustainance of Nigeria's Economy yet, we are yet to feel or witness the impacts of federal presence in every successive governments since the re-birth of democracy in 1999.

That Akwa Ibom State has been very peaceful, secure and safe as conspicuously acknowledged globally under the incumbent PDP led-administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel is an indication to point to the fact that while casting our votes on Saturday March 9, 2019; electorates must not mortgaged their conscience, I advise them to exercise their franchise by voting for a pragmatic, compassionate, passionate and morally dignified leader to govern the State.

Yesterday, I read on the social media platforms reports on thugs  importation by the All Progressive Congress (APC), ahead of March 9 gubernatorial and state assembly elections. This stories virtually occupied the entire social media space be it true or not,  I give glory to God that the police aptly responded along with other  security agents.

I call on every Akwa Ibomites to take cognisance of the fact that the gubernatorial election is not a race between two political parties. It's not for APC and PDP. The level of desperation by the APC to forcefully take over the state illegally is a glaring signal of total annihilation. A situation we must all rise and say NO.

For the overall interest of our people, and as the incoming governor of our dear state, I rise to voice out against and to condemn  those involved in causing mayhem and sponsors of politically motivated killings that we will resist them, we will not succumb to their antics, we will all rise within the legal confine to protect and defend our votes to ensure it is counted.

Let me at this juncture commend the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini who has vowed never to compromise. Kudos to men of the Nigeria police in Akwa Ibom State on their apt response and professionalism towards guarranteing the safety of lifes and properties across the state.

Singed:

Obong Sunday .E. Ayanga,
HDP Gubernatorial Candidate for Akwa Ibom State
