Rt. Hon. Dr. Usoro Akpanusoh; member-elect and incumbent Member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency at the State House of Assembly has appealed to Akwa Ibomites to desist from the act of inciting brawl between the executive and legislative arm of government.
Dr. Akpanusoh noted that members of the state legislature are elected to make laws which he said is their core constitutional duties to help foster and to facilitate development in the state and for the general interest of the people it represents. He restated that those elected to represent their constituents in the seventh assembly are conscious of ensuring efficient representation within the confines of the law and in tanderm with their campaign promises.
Akpanusoh who doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriations disclosed that there is no need a lawmaker should be fighting the same Government whose policies have been x-rayed and proven to be impactful by the populace.
He explained that the only way he and other Members of the State House of Assembly could kick against any government's policy is when that same policy have been diagnosed and considered unpopular and unacceptable by the people.
The lawmaker who kickstarted his second term representation with the award of scholarsp to two 400level law students of Uniuyo from his constistuency during his relection victory get together urged the press to be conscious of the ethics of journalism profession in their reportage as" the fourth estate of the realm".
"No one can really wake up one morning to stage a fight against government. The Executive as an Arm of Government doesn't work in isolation, but it works in collaboration with the Legislature to ensure the implementation of policies that could impact positively in the lives of the citizenry" Akpanusoh added.
He noted that Members of the 6th Assembly saw the need to support the Udom Emmanuel-led Administration by implementing his policies hence, their decision to fully embrace and support the governor's second term bid. He maintained that the synergy between the executive arm of government and members of the sixth assembly had yielded great positive results to both constituents and the people of Akwa Ibom State.
The five star lawmaker made it known that any State where the Legislature is putting up incessant fight with the Executive always suffers from ineffectivene representation and unimpactful governance.
He commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for running an inclusive Government where not only members of the Legislature but, all Akwa Ibom sons and daughters within and in the diaspora are carried along with due recognition. He however assured the Governor the necessary support to help him achieve his completion agenda which is geared towards ensuring wide spread industrial development in the State.
