FRANK ARCHIBONG WARNS STUDENTS AGAINST CULTISM, RAPE, DRUG ABUSE AND HIV/AIDS

The Executive Chairman of Eket local Government Council and ALGON Chairman in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Frank Archibong, has advised Students at all levels to shun social vices of anykind if they are to attain academic excellence and secure for themselves a better future.

Frank Archibong, who frowned at cases where many brilliant and very intelligent students with a bright future have fallen aparts due to their involvement into cultism, taking of hard drugs and having unprotected sex, said what should be expected and required from every students is to sacrifice and be dedicated to their studies and target  goals.



The ALGON boss, gave the charge yesterday in Eket while addressing  Students who participated in the grand Finale of  Secondary Schools Sensitization Campaign Against Rape, HIV & Drug Abuse, organized by the leadership of Eket Students Association (EKSA) Worldwide, which had as its Theme: Health: A Sustainable Tool In Shaping The Future.


The coucil boss, whose leadership style have impressed and impacted several lives, counselled all participating students to see their studies as the only platform that could propel them to the zenith  of academic excellence stressing that there is nothing you want today that you cannot get them tommorow.

He cautioned the students not to allow themselves to be decieved by firends who do not have moral bearings. He warned that those that are writing love letters to them at this level are doing so to distract and  destroy their future.

"Wait for your tommorow for your love,  today is for your education and  future. There is nobody that has gone into cultism and come out meaningful. Therefore, do not allow anybody to cause you to derail from your focus which is your studies" Frank warned.

The ALGON boss, further appreciated the students leadership for setting the right standard. He acknowledged the speakers for subscribing to ideas which will in the future help to build them bridges of greatness. He emphasised that disassociating from negative friends and abstinence from sex are  best solution for one to avoid being a victim of rape, cultism, drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.
He urged them to conduct themselves in a manner that should portray them as future leaders.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, in his presentation titled "Building Bridges For Healthy And  Sustainable Future For Humanity" said Akwa Ibom youths are very intelligent and assiduous, not lazy or slothful.

He commended the State chief Executive,  Deacon Udom Emmanuel, for his deep  concern about the future of Akwa Ibom Youths through the provision of enabling learning environment.

Dr. Ukpong, pointed that, as the future leaders of our State and country, students must run away from drug abuse and steer clear from anything that may compromise their HIV status.

"This State have worked hard to bring down the HIV status in our state. We happen to have the longest coastline with about 125 kilo metres coastline which have brought people from neighbouring States with HIV/AIDS into our State. We have come down from 10.8% ratio to 5.5% and I believe that the next national survey will be reduced". Dr. Ukpong said.

Also speaking, Engr. Idem Iniobobg, the CEO of IDEMGH Groups, who introduced himself as a product of grace, advised the students to be upright, focus and dedicated to their studies towards attaining academic excellence.

Idem whose positive contributions to the  advancement of education in Eket, was equally appreciated with an Excellence Award by the students leadership, encouraged them to disconnect from friends who may lure them into negative vices.

"Life travails are overcome by tenacity and deligence. At a point in my life while I  was in  the University, we were to go for a field trip, but I was unable to afford thirteen thousand naira (13,000)  payment to participate for the field trip; this did not cause me to be distracted or joined bad gangs in doing negative things". He advised.

The facilitators and other speakers at the Sensitization Campaign which include; wife of the Executive Chairman of Eket, Mrs. Bright Archibong, Dr. Idara Udofia, Dr. Edidiong Frank and Dr. Esther Udotia, took time out and educated the students and participants by enlightening them on key tips to live a Healthy life, attain academic excellence and success without getting involved into drug abuse, rape and other social vices.



Meanwhile, the Eket students Association (EKSA) Worldwide, under the leadership of Comrade Ifiokobong Akanimoh, seized the opportunity and honoured the Eket Council Boss, State Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Akpadiaha Ebitu, PDP Chapter Chairman of Eket, Obongiwaad Emmanuel Mbong, Dr. Idara Udofia, Dr. Edidiong Frank and Dr. Esther Udotia with Excellence Award in recognition of their enormous contributions and selfless services to educational development in Eket LGA.
