The International Human Rights Commission, Geneva, (Nigerian Committee) has appointed an International Businessman, a Philanthropist of note, a Peace Advocate, and a Political guru, Hon Itumah, as a Commissioner/ BOT member for South South.
In a letter of appointment issued to Hon Itumah and signed by the Envoy to Nigeria/Coordinator, Amb Darlington Amadi, the IHRC emphasized that his nomination came about after much scrutiny and for his zeal in the issues of philanthropy and service to humanity, as well as his commitment to ensure that the less privileged are secure from abuse and inhuman treatments. The letter also emphasised his meritorious services in the fight for the right of the less privileged in the society. "Your public service record is also of note to us": the letter concluded.
in his acceptance speech, Hon Itumah thanked the Team of IHRC for finding him worthy of such a privileged position, and honour. He assured the Commission of his preparedness to offer his services and commit his efforts on the issues of human rights abuses and violation of the personal liberties of Nigerians. He assured that he will not be found wanting. He assured that he will ensure that nothing is will be left undone to move the Commission forward in Nigeria.
In his own separate contribution, the Spokesman of IHRC, Dr Kenneth Anozie called upon the new Commissioner to use his wealth of experience and connections to lift the status of the Commission, and ensure that that we make the mark and work of the Commission to excel in Nigeria, knowing the state of affairs in the country now.
In the entourage to present his credentials were Amb Darlington Amadi, C, Special Envoy to Nigeria/National Coordinator, Dr Kenneth Anozie, National Press/Publicity Secretary and Comrade Labaran Mohammed, the Director of humanitarian services, Lady Jane GANA and others.
