SMALL HOLDER FARMERS REMAIN THE MAINSTAY OF THE AGRO-ECONOMY - Ime Uwah

Small holder and subsistent farmers in Akwa Ibom State have been urged to embrace hardwork and consistency while collaborating with each other so as to aggregate and make a lasting impact on the agro-economic landscape of the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Marketing and Brand Management, Mr Ime Uwah made the call earlier today at Oruk Anam, during the Dakkada Multipurpose Co-operative Society Local Government tour in the Area. Uwah identified small holder farmers as the live wire of the much needed Agricultural revolution in the country, as an alternative to the Oil regime, and urged farmers at the grassroots to show consistency and dedication so as to attract investment.




The Governor's Aide thanked his boss, the Akwa Ibom Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for showing genuine interest in the productivity and welfare of actual farmers in the state through the provision of interest free loans, farm inputs such as fertilizers, farming implements etc. He said the Governor was willing to do more for individual farmers so as to enhance their individual productivity.

The Directorate of Marketing and Brand Management helmsman also seized the opportunity to educate the farmers on how to stay safe from the Covid-19 Pandemic. He urged the locals to embrace personal hygiene and other healthy habits. He shared hand sanitizers and other personal hygiene materials to members of the cooperative.

Speaking earlier, the president of the Dakkada multipurpose co-operative society, Oruk Anam chapter, Mrs Unyime Effiong  said the challenges faced by  members of the cooperative includes lack of financial support to expand their agricultural cultivation and segment it to accommodate others in the cooperative. She however thanked the Governor for the interest free loan that was given to the cooperative, stating that the much that was done couldn't have been possible without the loan.


The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and his team were  received at Oruk Anam  by the President of the Dakkada Multipurpose Co-operative Society in the Local Government Area, Mrs Unyime Effiong, the secretary of the DMPCS, Mr Tim  Idiong and a cross section of members who conducted the team to member's  cultivation and processing sites  ranging from the Palm oil refineries, poultry farm, piggery, seven hectares of cassava plantation, fish pond, Afang plantation and two hectares of vegetable farm.


 Mr. Unwana Effiong Jimmy, a key player and an outstanding entrepreneur that has impacted tremendously in his community was recognized and inducted into the Dakkada Business & Leadership Forum by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on marketing and brand management, Mr Ime Uwah.
