Barely a day after the release of the 2020 Local Government Election timetable by the Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak's led chairmanship of the Akwa Ibom state Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC), the chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Akwa Ibom state council, Comrade Amos Etuk, today led members of the State Working Committee (SWC) to a meeting with the Chairman and Members of AKISIEC Board.
The meeting as discussed by the Chairman of AK NUJ is to seek collaboration, strengthen ties and renew all existing relationships, all in a bid to see that members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom state council are involved in the activities of the Commission, especially as it has to do with the forthcoming Local Government Elections in the state.
In his reaction, the Chairman of AKISIEC, Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak thanked the NUJ in the state for their concern and commitment, and for being the first body to indicate interest of partnership.
He described Journalists as authentic purveyors of genuine information in which any Enterprise cannot do without and pledged to work with the Union, as soon as activities of the Commission on the Local government election commences.
AKISIEC has released the timetable for the local government elections in the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom state, the election is scheduled for October 31st, 2020.
