The New Automobile Assembling Plant In A'Ibom Has Shown Gov Emmanuel's Passion In Job Creation - Ufot Ebong


The Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Technical Matters and Due Process,  Elder Ufot Ebong has stated that the Automobile Assembling Plant in Akwa Ibom State will create massive employment of about 2000 opportunities for Akwa Ibom people, which is the priority of the Udom Emmanuel led administration. 


Elder Ebong made this known while on the inspection of the Automobile plant in Itu earlier on Friday, 22nd August 2020. 


The factory which is one of the Industrialization strides of His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom is the first factory who's ground breaking ceremony was done by him shortly after his inauguration into office in 2015 according to the SSA, Bureau of Technical Matters, will not only boost the economy of the State, but also an answered prayer for majority of Akwa Ibomites. 


It could be recalled that as of June 2015, Governor Udom Emmanuel performed the ground breaking ceremony of the project as effort to reduce to the barest minimum, the unemployment rate in the State. This, he ventured into attracting foreign investors and giving them the necessary cooperation to thrive. 


"We stand firm and committed to provide jobs for the teeming unemployed people of Akwa Ibom State. The site will represent first chapter in the book of industrialization we have opened today. The Automobile Plant will be the first in the South South region, and one of the biggest in the country who's target is to become the best and biggest in Africa. 


This is one of the fruits of the Foreign Direct Investment, a company with the name Mimshac Transportation Technologies Plant in partnership with Merkavin Transportation Technologies Company.” Governor Udom Emmanuel said this during the ground breaking ceremony.


The factory which according to the Chief Executive Officer, CEO,  Mr. Valentino Okorie, is in partnership with an Israeli Company, Merkavin Automobile Technologies Company. The factory which is to commence operations in the next couple of months is expected to run on shifts with over 5000 staff per day.


Speaking with newsmen, Mr. Valentino said that in few weeks,  twenty (20) indigenes will be sent to Israel to be trained on automobile assembling, and will in turn return to the state to produce vehicles as well as impacting same knowledge on others that will be working in the factory. 


He also stated that work at the site was delayed because of the ravaging Covid-19 Pandemic as borders were shut down preventing expertriates and containers from coming into the country.


The company which will start a commercial transportation scheme, an intra city route, inter city routes and interstate routes in the country with central monitoring booth to monitor all buses and stations in real time is expected to boost employment in the state. 


Mr Okorie further maintained that the factory will be ready within 12-16 weeks, stating that the vehicles which are going to be manufactured and assembled in the State are products of Israeli based technology which can stand the taste and test of time. He further added that the factory has been in existence in Israel for more than 50years now. 


Describing the quality of vehicles to be produced, Okorie said that the factory has unique technology building stainless, non-rust materials which can stand the test of time with regards to road and terrain of the environment and would  only require engine maintenance if need be. 


Buildings like the administrative block, site clinic , the entrance to the site have been completed, pharmacy, etcetera etcetera. Part of the perimeter fence has been done as well as the lighting system, car park  and will also have a recreational centre, refectory and residential homes. 


" We received our last consignments on Friday night, so I can authoritatively say that everything is on ground to kick-start operations, but we can do that when the place is officially commissioned by the government. All materials are available on the sites and they are awaiting coupling. 


Governor Udom Emmanuel has been doing everything unique to ensure that the factory thrive, and we cannot in anyway take this cooperation for a joke. To reciprocate this gesture, we are doing all that is needed to create massive employment for the people of the State. With the factory, not less than 5000 direct and indirect jobs will be created for Nigerians, and a greater percentage of this will be Akwa Ibomites." 


The CEO had also harped on easing the stress of Transportation Companies on securing good vehicles for their operations, maintaining that with the factory, this unforeseen circumstance will become a thing of the past.
