The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong has lauded the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for his commitment, innovative ideas and dedication to the course of Industrializing and developing the State thereby making it a tourist hub for investors.
Mr. Archibong, who extolled Governor Emmanuel for delivering on his campaign promises, said that the State Chief Executive has provided Akwa Ibom people an enabling environment for development to strive, stating that the people of Akwa Ibom do not have any regret to have voted him into office as their Governor for another term of four years whose end will come in 2023.
The Commissioner stated this in his speech during the commissioning of an ultra modern Chambers built for the State Council of Chiefs by the Governor/presentation of Staff of office to the newly recognized Paramount ruler of Ika Local government area, HRM Edidem Joseph Okosi Ekot 111.
The Commissioner expressed deep appreciation to the Governor, for finding him worthy to be appointed into the State Executive Council; a Council made up of seasoned and eminent persons who are all sincerely bonded by the common vision of ensuring the realization of the Governor's well-thought-out Completion Agenda, while reassuring of his earnest desire and readiness to justify the confidence reposed in him.
"I restate my readiness to work in harmony with my colleagues in Council to fulfil your vision and aspirations for our State" Frank stated.
He noted that the year 2020 has been a very trying one for governments and people across the world. He said the COVID-19 pandemic which took the whole world unaware has dealt a serious blow to humanity, affecting the socio-economic fabric of the world in ways previously not envisaged.
"Our State and Country have not been left out of the negative impact of the pandemic; however, it is on record that our Governor has, by his quality leadership and financial wizardry, massively ameliorated the situation, and kept the casualty figures low" The Commissioner stated.
He further lauded the Governor for his foresight to have initiated and constructed a world class Infectious Disease Hospital which will help the State and the Country well beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
The commissioner maintained that the intermittent distribution of palliatives to the people, and the humongous investment in healthcare infrastructure, personnel and delivery, are humane strokes that can only come from a Governor like Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
"Despite the financial and sundry conditions imposed on government by the pandemic, Governor Emmanuel has graciously granted approval that this ceremony holds this year because of the high regard, and the prominence he accords the Traditional Institution; Over the years, he has demonstrated, in words and deeds, his avowed commitment to boosting the status and image of the Traditional Institution in the State" the commissioner added.
Frank Archibong, further appealed to the Governor to graciously look into the issues of omitted clans and villages that have been raised by the Royal Fathers for consideration.
The Royal Fathers who were filled with joy appreciated the Governor for recently granting recognition to some omitted Clans and Villages in Akwa Ibom State and for building for them a befiting Chambers even as they assured of collaboration to with government to ensure peace and unity.
The Governor commended the Mr. Archibong for ensuring the completion of the Chambers within a short time frame.
"If there is any appointment that I have made and equally pleased with, it is that of Frank Archibong as the Commissioner of Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs; He is a Square peg in a square hole" Governor Emmanuel Said.
The Governor in his usual magnanimity of showing love and respect to the traditional fathers, presented a brand new Toyota Prado Jeep, to the new paramount ruler, Edidem Akosi 111.
The event which was part of the activities marked for the Celebration of 33rd anniversary of the State creation had in attendance, the Executive Governor of the State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, his deputy, Sir Moses Ekpo, Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, top government fucntionaries including serving and former Senators, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ephraim Inyang-Enyen, State Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Udo Ekpeyong, Prince Enobong Uwah, Political leader of Eket senatorial District, Chief Ndueso Essien, Political leader of Esit Eket, Elder Ben Udobia, ALGON chairman, Hon. Engr. Iniobong Robson, past Governors, Commissioners, and many others.
