ELDER O.D.EKONG REMAINS OUR POLITICAL LEADER - WARD ONE PDP STAKEHOLDERS



Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward One, Esit Eket LGA have called on all warring factions to embrace peace, while reaffirming their loyalty to Elder. O. D. Ekong's led leadership, saying there is no plans of replacing him as the Ward's political leader.



The Stakeholders, who converged at the residence of the Ward One political leader in Ekpeneobo on Monday, October 19, 2020 reiterated their loyalty and support to O.D. Ekong's leadership and assured of partnering with all stakeholders and party faithfuls for the success of all PDP candidates in the area. 




Addressing the gathering, Elder O.D. Ekong, said the essence of the meeting was to strategically map out modalities towards ensuring peaceful conduct in the forthcoming Council elections schedule to hold on October 31, 2020 and to sort out all internal wrangling or issues capable of causing disaffection and tearing the party apart.



Speaking, elder Okon Umana, who spoke on the background of party stability posited that there are some people who do not mean well for others and the party. He advised that leadership should be an all inclusive in order to give others fair treatment and required benefits.



"People should not assumed power when they are not duly endorsed or accepted by the people. There is need for harmonious coexistence in Ward One in which we the stakeholders must be firm and transparent; the transparency here is to jointly support elder O. D. Ekong who is our recognized political leader".



Elder Elijah, who is a member of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and   Waste Management Agency Board, stressed that the issue of neglegence and exclusion of major political leaders in handling the affairs of the party in the ward can cause undue tension and possible collapse of the party. 



"As leaders, we must show others practical example for peace to reign. Our utmost concern should be anchored on excellence and integrity if we are to freely operate under the ambience of peace and unity". The board member admonished. 



He appreciated the pragmatic and sincere leadership attributes of the political leader in the area, Elder Benjamin Udobia in the manner he has employed in ensuring there is peace in Ward One and the LGA at large.


Anietie Elijah, also thanked the ward leaders for their steadfastness and contributions to the growth of the party which he admitted has yielded good fruits to the people through the appointments of Dr. Ini Adiakpan as Commissioner and himself as a board member.



The meeting had in attendance, Elder O. D. Ekong -Ward leader, Hon. Awai .M. Awai-Unit leader, Pst. Bills Ene, Victor Abiatu, Paul Thomas, Victor S. Udo, Emman Dan Obong, Adiaha F. Umah-woman leader, DSP David Edoho-unit leader, Sunday Akpe, Chief Iboro Robson,  Ini Ekong- Party youth, Elder Cobb Johnny, Iniobong Harrison, Ubong Ntukidem-former chapter officer.

Others are; Godwin Green, Ime S. Joshua, Hon. Elijah Bassey -former councilor, Idara Cobb -unit leader, Engr. Anietie Elijah- Board member, Emman Smith Esq, Umana O. Umana-retired immigration officer and Dr. John Ekanem.


The stakeholders further admitted the supremacy of the party, but expresses displeasure and stressed on lack  of unanimous process of which the councillor emerges, that gave birth to disagreement in the ward.

All those who spoke during the meeting agreed to embrace peace with all aggrieved party member in order to facilitate for the development of the area.
