WE CANNOT DEVELOP AKWA IBOM WITHOUT PEACE - Gov Emmanuel

... As Onna Stakeholders, Indigenes Pledge Continued Support for Emmanuel's Completion Agenda.

Governor Udom Emmanuel has emphasised that in as much as development is the yearning of everyone, Akwa Ibom State cannot experience any meaningful development in the absence of peace in any part of the state.

At the finale of the Local Government Area tour of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) in Onna, Governor Emmanuel acknowledged that Akwa Ibom State has enjoyed significant peace which he said is what God has given to the state and that his administration is "consolidating"  on "what God has put on ground for Akwa Ibom".

The Governor who likened the Maintain Peace Movement to the Biblical Noah's ark, called on stakeholders and Akwa Ibomites to sign up for the peace sustenance initiative, while re-echoing the position of Akwa Ibom people on peace and its preservation, holding that "Akwa Ibom people want peace because we cannot have development without peace and we want to maintain this peace that we have".

Advising against violence and incitement, he made it clear that the state is moving forward in "one accord"  and no force will halt the movement, declaring that "anybody who wants power through violence does not wish Akwa Ibom well."

"This is not about anybody, but it is about peace in our state for us to develop our economy", he said.

Others who spoke in their seperate remarks in Onna before the inauguration of the Local Government Steering Committee of MPM in the area, agreed that peace must be maintained in the state, and restated their unalloyed support for the Governor and his completion agenda.
