A’Ibom Governor’s Aide Charges Christian Youths To Imbibe Entrepreneurship

Christian Youths in Akwa Ibom State and beyond have been advised to embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship as a way of contributing to the economic development of the state and country at large and  consequently creating job opportunities for themselves and other Nigerians.

Mrs. MefLyn Anwana, Special Assistant to Governor on Entrepreneurial Development gave the charge during the 2022 Virgin Minds New Year Business Conference organized by Pastor Ab Isong held at the Citadel, Aka Etinan, Mbierebe Road, Uyo. 

Mrs. Anwana stated that the country's economy would only thrive, grow and develop where entrepreneurship thrives as it is done in other parts of the world. This, she opined  would lead to new ventures, employment generation, growth in per capital income while  improving the standard of living of the citizenry in the country. 

She also stated that new products and services created by entrepreneurs can produce a cascading effect, where they stimulate related businesses or sectors that need to support the new venture, furthering economic development.

"It is the entrepreneur who organizes and puts to use capital, labour and technology. Accordingly, development does not occur spontaneously as a natural consequence when economic conditions in some sense are right.

The Governor's aide called on young visioners to embrace the myriads of opportunities associated with entrepreneurship while commending Governor Udom Emmanuel for his commitment to Human Capital /Manpower Development and Industrialization  policy that has yielded an active business ecosystem 

Mrs. Anwana disclosed that the evolving technological space, venture and landscape across industries has changed radically in the last decade and will continue to change in the years ahead, not only are new technologies emerging to enable interconnectivity on an unprecedented scale, but new markets are also emerging while adding that today’s entrepreneur must be nimble, fast, and creative in product design and development, marketing and selling, Branding, pitching, planning, implementation ,growth strategies  etc

The Governor's aide said for an entrepreneur or business to grow favorably most especially in a more complex environment, there must be a well defined Vision ,leadership, Management template strategically structured with an effective and efficient management process to give the business or organization the targeted output.

The event featured panel discussions on Monetizing ideas, risk management and access to funds and pitch.
