TEN REASONS EKONG SAMPSON WILL FLOOR EPHRAIM INYANG FOR EKET SENATE SEAT

Ephraim Inyang

Dr. Ekong Sampson

NUMBER ONE: ZONING FAVOURS EKONG SAMPSON OF THE PDP

It is instructive to note that the only noise on the seat comes from Ephraim Inyangeyen, candidate of the YPP. Unfortunately this candidate is so naive on the politics of Eket Senatorial District, that he does not even know that it is not the turn of Onna local government area and Eket Federal Constituency to produce the Senator after Senators Eme Ekaette and Helen Esuene had held  sway from 2007 to 2015. Ephraim does not seem to understand the arrangement having just returned to Akwa Ibom in 2015 after years of sojourn around the country, from one wharf to another as a customs officer.

On the other hand, Ekong Sampson has zoning in his favour as Ikot Abasi federal Constituency is the favoured area to produce the next senator and Mkpat Enin local government area has never had a shot. For the records, Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency produced a Senator between 1999 and 2007 in Senator Udoma Udoma, Eket Federal Constituency had the two Amazons next and from 2015 till 2023, Oron Federal Constituency was represented by Senators Nelson Effiong and Akon Eyakenyi. This is why when the elders of the district, met at the residence of Chief Nduese Essien some months ago, it was unanimously agreed that zoning, power shift and rotation favoured Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency and that equity and Justice should remain the tool for peaceful coexistence in the district. Although Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen was present in the meeting, he could not understand what was agreed because of his ignorance and poor grasp of the political dynamics of the district.

The leader of the State, His Excellency the Governor on several occasions has recounted how he turned down several overtures to take the ticket of the party in respect of zoning. This means that even Onna that Ephraim comes from, would not want to be seen by the other 11 local government areas of the district as Judas the traitor and betrayer. They will support Ekong Sampson, a seasoned journalist, lawyer, former lawmaker, former local government chairman and former State Executive Council member to succeed.
