Gov Umo Eno Receives World President, Leaders of Seventh-Day Adventist Church

... Reiterates Commitment to Oath of Office

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has reiterated commitment to his oath of office to faithfully discharge his duties for the overall good of the State. 


He stated that the ceremonial placement of hands on the Bible for the oath was beyond mere ritual for him, but a commitment to service which must be kept.


The Governor stated this during a courtesy visit by the World President and leaders of Seventh-Day Adventist church, who are in the State in preparation for the centenary celebration of the Church.


He noted that his election was largely made possible by the Christian community who rose in unison to support one of their own and to commit to a better future for their children and generations yet unborn.

The Governor who was delighted by the visit, said it was very significant to host the world leader of one of the prominent Christian denominations in the country.

He stated that in furtherance of his commitment to effectively serve the state, his administration has designed an economic development blueprint code named, "ARISE Agenda" adding that each letters of the acronym represent the focal areas of the current administration.

While narrating the different plans in the areas of rural development, agriculture, education and others, he said government is building a model school that will be replicated with at least one per local government, as well as Songhai model farm in the State.He appreciated the team for the visit,   congratulated them on the centenary and prayed for journey mercies as they tour round as part of activities to mark the event.


Earlier in his remarks, the World President, General Conference of SDA Church, Pastor Dr. Ted Wilson commended the Governor for religious liberty accorded every citizen and residents of the State.


He disclosed that their visit to the State is as regards their centenary celebration in Nigeria taking place in Ikot Ekpene adding that the activities will be extended to neighbouring

states including Rivers and Abia.


Making reference to Micah 6:8, "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" he said God has shown the Governor  and advised that he continues to do that which is pleasing unto Him.


Pastor Wilson appreciated the Governor over the warm reception accorded him and his team and prayed that God will grant him the wisdom to deliver on his vision and development plans for the State.


In Company of the Governor to receive the visitors were: Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, MD/CEO of Hensek Integrated Services Limited, Engr. Uwem Okoko and others.
