The speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke has lauded Governor Emmanuel on his developmental strides across the state while urging the Governor to terminate the award of contract for the construction of Ikot Mbak-Eyop road.

Luke, in a solidarity message on Monday onbehalf of members of the state legislature during the Eket senatorial district mega rally in support of Governor Udom second term observed that " for the Governor to have attained the level of achievements in road networks, education, transport, industrial reneasance and security notwithstanding low revenue worth the people's accolades".





Barr. Luke urged the people of Akwa Ibom State to arise and support the industrialization plan of the present administration by throwing their full weight behind the Governor's mandate renewal in other to aide the completion of Etebi Ewang road, Eket metropolitan remodeling / roundabouts, other internal roads in Eket and its environs.

He said same support given to former Governor, Sen. Akpabio by Akwa Ibomites saw to the completion and commissioning of Ikot Ekpene - Abak road project.



Speaker Luke expressed sadness over the award of contract for the construction of "Ikot mbak Eyop" road contract in Obot Akara local government area by the immediate past administration. He informed that 11b naira was the conract sum stating  that 1.5b naira upfront payment was initially released to the contractor without mobilizing to site.


Onofiok while urging the Governor to terminate and probe the above mentioned contract queried the justification why a contactor who was given 1.5b nairia upfront payment out of 11b naira contract without mobilising equipments and personels to site.


"We in the house of assembly are proud to align with the leadership exposition of Mr. Udom Emmanuel because returning him for a second term is not under any agenda nor ethnicity, it is Akwa Ibomites agenda; therefore, weather we are given tickets or not, we in the house of assembly will stand by Govenor Udom Emmanuel till 2023"
Luke said.


Meanwhile, the state chief executive, His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel has hinted that he would declare his intention to run for the gubernatorial race in the coming week.

The Governor disclosed this while addressing mammoth crowd at the Onna stadium in a rally organized by the leadership of Eket senatorial District and stakeholders in support of his re-election bid.


Gov. Emmanuel thanked the leadership of the senatorial district for their support and confidence repose on him. He reassured the people of Akwa Ibom State of keeping on the pace of superlative perfomace to sustain on the existing peaceful atmosphere for greater developments to strives in his second term, assuring to vigorously defend the position of Akwa Ibom people without fear of favour.
