ESD 2019: AKON EYAKENYI CONSULTS EKET STAKEHOLDERS, PARTY DELEGATES.

...promises better deal

The aspiration of Dr. Akon Eyakenyi was again given a boost as the umbrella party in Eket LGA led by its chapter chairman Obongiwaad Emma Mbong and a former Senator Mrs. Helen Esuene openly endoresed her for the top job yesterday when she consulted stakeholders and all PDP prospective delegates  in Eket LGA to formally declare her interest as the peoples senator come 2019.



Presenting Dr. Akon Eyakenyi, the director general of "team better deal campaign" Elder Samuel Ekpeyong described Dr. Eyakenyi as an industrious woman vested with diverse leadership virtues. Elder Ekpeyong thanked the stakeholders and delegates for giving the campaign team the opportunity for Dr. Akon to formally declare her interest for the top job.

The DG while soliciting for support from stakeholders explained that Mrs. Akon is humility personified stressing that it  is one prime reason he is appealing to the stakeholders to support the aspiration of the former minister as the next senator to represent Eket senatorial District.

Akon in her address informed that she is in the race to fill the vacuum of failed representation meted to the senatorial district by Sen. Nelson Effiong of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akon, a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who served during the administration of His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan noted that Eket senatorial District over the past three years have lost out in the affairs of governance from the  federal due to poor representation by the incumbent senator.

Mrs. Eyakenyi appealed to the stakeholders and delegates across the eleven wards in Eket LGA for support promising that she will not deviate from the principle of equity in her effort to legislate laws for the betterment of the entire people of Eket senatorial District.

She lauded the Executive chairman of Eket LGA Mr. Frank Archibong for defending the mandate he was wilfully given by the electorates adding that she will only run for one term of four years to complete the tenure of the incumbent.

Obong Iwaad Emma Mbong, the PDP chapter chairman of Eket LGA who spoke on behalf of party  commended the decision of Dr. Akon to aspire for the senatorial seat stating that she (Akon) understands the politics of managing people and the party. He said Dr. Akon is focus, credible and reliable to represent the senatorial district as a senator.

Mbong however assured Dr. Eyakenyi of his support and that of the entire party's delegates to enable her emerge victorious while congratulating her for consulting widely.

Chief Mrs. Esuene in her submission commended the campaign team of Dr. Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi describing her as a steadfast, loyal and selfless politician whose trademark in public service is generally acknowledged in the pattern of political leadership.

She said the aspirant is one who will be committed to the development of the senatorial district if given the mandate. She stated that Dr. Akon is conversant with the challenges surrounding the district.

The former minister went further to reiterate that Dr. Eyakenyi is one mother who will never allow her child to cry despite her engagement. She appealed for support from the women fold to give Akon a deserving victory.

Rt. Hon. (Chief) Nduese Essien, the political leader of Eket LGA speaking on behalf of Eket stakeholders said the subject of senatorial representation requires credible, knowledgeable and vibrant representative.

The former two term lawmaker lamented on the poor representation of the incumbent saying that the people were misaken to have elected Senator Nelson Effiong as their representative.

"the Senate is not for jokers but, its a place for serious minded people that is why we as stakeholders will deeply scrutinise and analyze all aspirants before we determine who should represent us" Chief said.

Chief Nduese who is keenly committed to the success of Udom Emmanuel re-election project advised all stakeholders to continue to believe in the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel stating that the Governor should be supported   for a second term because It is only in the second term that he will be able to deliver completely on his campaign promises and ongoing projects.

The consultation meeting had in attendance the Executive chairman of Eket LGA, Mr. Frank Archibong, Rt. Hon. Nduese Essien & spouse, Sen. Helen Esuene, Obongiwaad Emma Mbong & spouse, Hon. Kennedy Akwaowo, Mrs. Eka Usoro, State House of Assembly aspirants Dr. Nsidibe Akata, Mr. Ekanem Willie, Wife of the paramount ruler of Eket, party stalwarts, political leaders, youths and women and a host of other dignitaries.
