The doubt about the insinuation that an Onna person cannot make a two term governor in Akwa Ibom State has been arrested by the Paramount Ruler of Onna LGA, HRM. Edidem Raymond Inyang who claimed that such insinuation are baseless and will be proven wrong by Udom Emmanuel reelection in 2019.
There has been such insinuation in some quarters that Gov. Udom Emmanuel will not scale through the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state based on the claim that a one time governor of the then Cross River State, Dr. Clement Isong - an Onna son despite performance did not win his second term ambition, but the Paramount Ruler of Onna, Edidem Raymond Inyang while reacting to a question thrown to him on the insinuation, during interaction with journalists at his palace in Awa Ndon, Onna LGA dismissed such claim with believe that Udom Emmanuel -an Onna son too is not Clement Isong and will break such jinx if any at all.
Inyang who opined that politics of now adays is far different from the political system of the 2nd republic where Clement Isong was a victim, as people are more informed today than then said "There is no such jinx or myth. It is about politics. Admittedly, Politics is not that clean but one thing you can not say is that Onna people do not perform.
" In terms of performance, Late Dr Clement Isong was ranked very high. He created all the industries that we have still been talking about. Governor Udom Emmanuel has also created industries, just that it is privately owned. And the good thing about the industries created is that it will remain. It will not be abandoned."
The Royal Father observed that majority of Akwa Ibom people are honest and are appreciative of the Gov. Udom Emmanuel good works and will be ready to support him for a second term in office.
The Monarch noted that Gov. Udom Emmanuel has laid credible framework for industrial revolution which can be built upon, and expressed delight in awakening the spirit of industrialization and enterprises in the state and maintained peace which to ensure the business thrives successfully.
Being optimistic about the future plans of the Udom lead government, Edidem Inyang said the commitment shown by the Governor in his leadership is prediction that his second term will be beyond Superior performance.
He therefore called on the political class to take peace very important in the pursuits of their political ambition while condemning recent crises that rocked the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly said " Politics should not be seen as a violent game. You fight with your ideas and philosophies. You do not fight with weapons or bad language. You promote what you believe in peacefully and bear in mind the overall interest of the State".
