In the spirit of love and celebration, the Youths of Okon clan, yesterday declared their total support for Rt.Hon. David Lawrence and the People's Democratic Party ahead of 2019 general elections.
Speaking, Rt. Hon. David Lawrence, The Deputy Chief Whip of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and himself the incoming State House of Assembly member, thanked the youths of Okon Clan for always taking the right decision and at the right time. He appealed to the Youths that zoning has not been truncated, that his emergence was as a result of exigency and necessity, which is for the benefit of the people of Eket State constituency. He said he came to solicit support especially from those that may have been aggrieved at the instance of his emergence.
He declared that come 2023, Position of the State of Assembly, Eket State constituency will be exclusively declared for Okon geopolitical zone, as no other zone will be allow to contest for this position.
Hon David Lawrence, who grew up in Okon with many admirers from the geopolitical zone, then sued for total support, cooperation among the rank and file of Okon enclave, saying that , as a true friend of Okon, he remains committed to the provision of infrastructure and social amenities to ameliorate their long term suffering and neglect. He then vowed to render good dividends of democracy to the youths of Okon who are disenchanted owing to recent happenings in the polity.
In appreciation of the unalloyed support given to me by the Youths of Okon, he promised that his third and fourth constituency projects will be sited in Okon and he also said that the position of the Commissioner will still remain in Okon zone till 2023, for equity and fairness.
Speaking further, a former State assembly aspirant, Dr Nsidibe Inyang Akata who gave the incumbent lawmaker a good run for his money during the party primaries, drummed support for the election and reelection of all the PDP candidates at all levels, urging the good people of Okon geopolitical zone to still keep faith with the party they have always identified with over the years.
Also speaking, The Vice Chairman of Eket LGA, Hon. Nsikan John, thanked the youths of Okon for their uncommon support for Udom Emmanuel and the People's Democratic, he advised that they should remain steadfast and committed to the reelection of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Also speaking, Hon. Ekanem Willie, a major political leader and a Director of Operations for the Divine Mandate team declared that Okon geopolitical zone will support and vote for David Lawrence and the People's Democratic Party, come 2019 general Elections, and he also mentioned that Rt. Hon. David Lawrence is indebted to Okon geopolitical zone, that it is expected of him to pay this debt by supporting Okon geopolitical zone to produce State House of Assembly member by 2023.
In his vote of thanks, Senior Comrade Daniel Essien, thanked Rt. Hon. David Lawrence for his positive thoughts for the Okon geopolitical zone and he also made a passionate plea to the PDP that the position of the Honourable Commissioner should still remain in Okon beyond 2019 for Equity and fairness.
Dignitaries in attendance were: The Vice Chairman of Eket LGA, Hon Nsikan John, Eng Abraham Emmanuel Udoh aka SAFRA, Eket Youth President popularly called Alaska, Ikot Ataku Youth President, Akparawa Patrick Solomon Ekwere, other Okon villages youth helmsmen among others.
