UDOM PROMISES MEGA FACE-LIFT IN NSIT UBIUM, TO BUILD ULTRA-MODERN POLICE STATION

In a bid to improve facilities for the enhancement of security in the state, Akwa Ibom Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has assured of awarding contract for the construction of an Ultra-modern Nigeria Police Station in Nsit Ubium by February, this year.

Governor Emmanuel gave the  assurance during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaign rally for his re-election,  held at the Council Secretariat, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

The Governor, who stated that his team was "on a completion agenda", said that the planned construction was to fulfill part of promises made by his administration, to Nsit Ubium, explaining that on execution, the project would not only improve on the security but also give a face-lift to the area.

He hinted that Nsit Ubium would be a beneficiary of the next phase of mega industrialization to boost employment opportunities, adding that he would ensure  that 80% of the local workforce from the state, would come from their communities.


While announcing the expansion of the last tranche of the interest-free loan grants for traders, to accommodate more market women in the area, he reteirated that his administration would continue to invest massively in education in Nsit Ubium.

The State Chief Executive called on the people to key- into government programmes on the ongoing rice farm agriculture, assuring that the rice plantation project initiated in the area, would be expanded to provide more opportunities to engage the youths and other interested farmers.

Addressing the large crowd of people who turned out for the rally, the Director General of the Divine Mandate Campaign Organization, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, said that the PDP was concerned about the future of the state, urging the youths to guard against deception by those who do not mean well for them.


Otuekong Nkanga, decried the marginalization of the South South region by the federal  government and solicited for votes for the PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to ensure restructuring of the country.

He pointed out that the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Governor Emmanuel, has enabled a peaceful environment which brought about the birth of 15 industries in the state within his first term in office, stressing that the Governor should be given a second term to roll out  more development programmes for Akwa Ibom.

The State Chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, appreciated the people for supporting the PDP and the Governor, advising them to safeguard their Permanent Voter's Cards, PVCs, while reminding them to vote the Party  and defend their votes in their respective units, during the general elections.

Ekpo expressed conviction that Alhaji Abubakar would be given the number one job in the country, come February 16, charging them to also ensure the success of all other PDP candidates from their area.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly,  Barrister Onofiok Luke, appreciated the leadership and supporters of the PDP for finding him fit, to fly the flag of the Party, commending the enormous support he enjoys from the current occupant of the office he is aspiring to, Rt. Hon. Sam Ikon.

Luke, who is the Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency Candidate, mentioned  some of his constituency projects, including the construction   of a modern market in the area, saying that he was a brand that can be  trusted and promised to represent the interest of his constituents at the Green Chamber without fear or intimidation.

The National Assembly hopeful maintained that when voted into office, he would partner the re-elected Governor Emmanuel to advocate for the interest of Akwa Ibom State, mentioning that Justice and equity can only be attained through restructuring of the country and sued for the election of Atiku, as the next President of Nigeria.

Earlier, the PDP Chapter Chairman, Hon. Aniefiok Johnny and the Nsit Ubium Council Chairman, Hon. Udemeobong Bassey, indicated that the Governor's campaign in the area was only a formality, expressing the readiness of the people of the Local Government to go for  elections at any moment.

They described the L. G A. as the custodian of the PDP, noting that they are all armed with their PVCs and acknowledged that all the political class from the area, have performed creditably, obviously in emulation of the Governor.

Speaking on behalf of  the Elders, a political leader in Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob, said that Governor Emmanuel's second term is a done deal, asserting that, what he described as 'the winning force', was in Nsit Ubium.

Senator Bob recalled that there was high level of insecurity for about eight years, prior to the assumption of office of Governor Emmanuel, remarking that the Governor has enabled peace, initiated several development projects and industrialized the state.

Others who also spoke at the event were the State House of Assembly hopeful, Barr. Otobong Bob, Anthony Akwa, who spoke on behalf of the youths and  the women representative,  Mrs. Nsima Brownson.


Highpoint of  the  rally was the presentation of Party flags to the National and State Assembly candidates, Barristers Luke and Bob,  by the State Party Chairman, Obong Ekpo.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio and Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, His Eminence, Ntenyin Solomon D. Etuk, had earlier given royal blessings to Governor Emmanuel when the Governor stopped over to pay homage to the Nsit Ubium Traditional Rulers Council, before arriving the venue of the rally.
