WORLD CLASS SKILLS DEVELOPMENT CENTRE PROJECT UNDERWAY IN MKPAT ENIN

An ultra modern skills development centre for human capacity development will soon spring up at Ikot Akata in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.


Governor Udom Emmanuel stated this at Mkpat Enin during the Peoples Democratic Party campaign rally at the area, Thursday.

According to the Governor, the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, Nigerian National Pertroluem Corporation, NNPC, and other major stakeholders have approved the construction of the Skills Development Centre in partnership with Exxon Mobil in the state.

Governor Emmanuel said that the state government has established in Mkpat Enin, the most digital Power Substation at Ekim, laid foundation for the permanent site of Akwa Ibom State University, established a Coconut Plantation and the ongoing coconut oil refinery project, with fifty percent of employees from there

He also listed the construction of roads and several schools rehabilitation projects as some of his achievements in the area.

The Governor, who promised the construction of the road leading to the palace of the Paramount Ruler said that his administration will soon commence the rebuilding of the famous Ukam Market, noting that Mkpat Enin has been one of the highest beneficiaries of the present government's development strides.

The State's Chief Executive, who said he has fulfilled his Campaign promises to the Local Government called on the people to play their part of the bargain by voting for the PDP both at the National and State level.

While addressing the rally, the DG, Divine Mandate Campaign Organization, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga enumerated the various projects sited in Mkpat Enin and charged the people to stand solidly behind the PDP administration for them to continue to enjoy those benefits.

The DG reminded the people that no federal presence exists in the Local Government apart from what the state government is doing and advised them to vote the Umbrella and be ready to defend their votes.

Obong Paul Ekpo, who is the PDP State Chairman, presented flags to candidates contesting the elections and formally received 7 APC Ward Chaimen, Chapter Executives and almost 720 members into the PDP, adding that they were given the right to partake in all due benefits as party members.

Announcing his defection at the ceremony, the leader of the defectors, Pastor George Ikpe said they were moved by the Governor's performance in Mkpat Enin, especially in Ikpa Ibom clan where he comes from and pledged total support to the PDP.

In the same vein, the Commissioner for Economic Development, Labour and Manpower Planning, Barr. Ekong Sampson told the Governor that his support base in Mkpat Enin was foundational and assured that they will continue to take the lead in giving suport to the State's Chief Executive, whom he said the people are proud of.

The Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ekanem Brown, Eket Senatorial District Chairman of the PDP, Hon Mfon Nkanteen, Chapter Chairman, Hon. Anietie Akpan, Barr. Jerry Akpan, Mrs Ima-Abasi Ekanem Brown and Hon. Emem Alex, who represented different interests, all spoke in appreciation of Governor Emmanuel's efforts at developing the area and pledged 100 percent votes.

Similary, the candidates, Dr Mrs Akon Eyakenyi, seeking Eket Senatorial District's seat, Rt. Hon. Francis Uduyok, vying for a second term in Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, and Hon. Victor Ekwere, contesting for Mkpat Enin seat in the State House of Assembly, also reaffirmed their commitment to the victory of the PDP.

Earlier, the Governor had led his entourage to pay homage to the Paramount Ruler of Mkpat Enin, Edidem Akpan Akpan Ekpene.

The Royal Father expressed satisfaction  with the Governor's performance so far, but appealed for further intervention on other deplorable roads in the area, including the one leading to his palace.

Edidem Ekpene told the Governor that the Local Government still has massive land to offer and called for the siting of more industries in the area and recognition of Mkpat Enin as a core oil producing Local Government.

The Royal Father prayed for the Governor and wished him success in the elections.
