By Assam Abia.

The Commissioner for Works Akwa Ibom State, Mr Ephraim Inyang has hinted that Governor Udom Emmanuel has ordered that the ongoing beautification project in Eket be completed within six months from today.

Inyang made this know yesterday during a Town Hall meeting of a cross section of Eket stakeholders at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Eket, HRM Edidem E. C. D. Abia.

He revealed that the State Chief Executive gave him, Works Commissioner, the matching order while commissioning some road projects in the area on Friday last week, adding that,

"By the time the Governor will finish cleaning up Eket, you will have reasons to applaud him for his knack for quality job and painstaking development efforts for the State".

Akparawa Inyang took time out in explaining why the remodeling project seem to be moving in a slow pace which he said was caused by a number of factors including the jacket drainage system constructed to ensure that the city does not experience flooding again and "the attitude of some property owners who took Government to court over demolition issues".

He appealed on property owners to co-operate with him to ensure that the timeline given by the Governor is met, stressing that "it is impossible to prepare an omelette without breaking eggs", adding that every kobo has been paid to those whose property were marked for demolition.

Earlier, in his opening address, the Paramount Ruler in whose instance the meeting was held, called on the people of Eket to be patient with the Governor, adding that since the creation of Akwa Ibom State, the present Governor will go down in history as the only Governor who has changed the infrastructure narrative of the oil rich  city.
