The Lawmaker who was sworn in alongside 359 other representatives in the lower chamber auditorium of the National Assembly yesterday, said since his victory at the polls was collective, the representation also  has to be collective, adding that he believes in bottom to top module of democratic representation. .

Briefing constituents immediately after the inauguration at New World Hotel, Utako, Abuja, venue of his reception, Ifon expressed his utmost appreciation for the overwhelming support given him during the intra/inter party elections, saying he owes the constituency a debt of gratitude that will be paid in effective representation.

While promising a robust and superlative legislation, the Lawmaker stated that anyone who claims monopoly of ideas, will only have transforming ideas wasted, so to partner constituents, he beckoned on those with creative ideas to contribute so he can really speak the minds of the people during legislation.

He  informed his constituents that coming from an oil producing Federal Constituency, whose development does not commensurate it contributions to the swelling height of the state and country's economy, there was a need to articulate ideas that will lead to the amelioration of the status of underdevelopment faced by the people.

" We have contributed enormously to the growth of our country and state economy  through our rich resources,  but what we have does not reflect our contributions"

"We will work together to change the narrative of our Federal Constituency and create new frontiers for development to be achieved" He said.

Elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic party, after defeating  his closest rival of the All Progressive Congress, Kufre Akpabio, with 61, 580 votes against 11, 263 votes, the lawmaker said his victory wouldn't have been possible if the Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel did not provide a level playing ground during the primaries.

He thanked the Governor for upholding the sanctity of democracy and urge others to emulate his true democratic gesture.

Reacting to the remarks made by the new inaugurated lawmaker, the Chairman of Eket Senatorial District Elders Forum, Rt. Hon. Nduese Essien, who chaired the occasion, congratulated the Lawmaker on his Inauguration, saying there is no doubt that the Federal Constituency has brought out someone that will make them proud.

He described Hon. Ifon as a man who has participated in numerous community rescue missions, meaning he understands the nitty-gritty of public service and has the capacity to deliver effective representation.

Essien, a two term Federal Lawmaker and former Minister of Housing and Urban Renewal said the new Lawmaker is what he calls 'A Comprehensive Human Being' because he has  joined iƱ the struggle to achieve the benefits from oil companies for the Federal Constituency.

"Whenever you hear or see people struggling for the interest of the Federal Constituency, Hon. Patrick Ifon is always there"

" That is why he was overwhelmingly supported to come and represent us" he said.

Essien added that he is sure Hon. Ifon will do them proud, urging constituents to give their utmost support to enable him deliver his promises.
