A'IBOM: PDP TREASURER, BARR. EBITU SPEAKS ON BUHARI'S MINISTERIAL NOMINEES

Barr. Akpadiaha Ebitu

Emmanuel Paragaon

He is an astute lawyer by profession. As a man with the wig and gown,  he does not know how to speak with both sides of the mouth. Though a Nigerian politician   he is always very careful in his choice and  usage of words.

He is not a professional politician but a professional in politics.

Barrister Akpadiaha Ebitu is always an interviewer's delight any day,  any time.

On hearing of his recent appointment as the pioneer Company Secretary and Legal Adviser of the newly established Ibom Air,  media practitioners of his Ekid extraction went to felicitate with the amiable and soft spoken learned gentleman on this meritorious appointment to his father's land by the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration.

During the media parley with the Afaha Eket born legal icon yesterday at his country home, one of the issues on the front burner of national discourse was the just released list of ministerial nominees by PMB as read out yesterday on the floor of the Senate by its helmsman,  Ahmed Lawan.

He was still his vintage self as he did justice to the issue to the admiration of all and sundry present in the interactive session.

According to the incumbent PDP State Treasurer,  President Mohammadu Buhari is at liberty and duty bound to pick people that he feels can help him to move Nigeria to the next level, but the worrisome aspect of it is why he took him so long a time to come out with the list after being in the saddle for the past four years.

" The President is no longer a novice and greenhorn as far as steering the ship of Nigerian state is concerned,  he has learned the political ropes,  so he should  now try and make hay while the sun is still shining. Time and tide wait for no one " He further stated.

" The list is a far cry from the expectations of Nigerians.  What Mr President told Nigerians that he will be careful in selecting people of proven integrity and astute technocrats  people he knows at his finger tips is now a mirage "

One journalist on the train was quoted as saying that the list is a mixed blend of expired politicians of the same old order, recycling political jobbers and furthermore,  there is no adequate representation from the youths who make up a greater proportion of the entire populace.

"The anti corruption battle of the present administration suffers a major setback as we have many nominees on that list  still having issues with the anti corruption agencies and are yet to be let off the hook." The pen pusher stressed further
Barrister Akpadiaha Ebitu also has a word for the former governor and the prospective Minister from Akwa Ibom State.

Political pundits are of the opinion that , by accepting the ministerial portfolio   he has already kissed his case at the tribunal goodbye. The implication is that he has  conceded defeat at his pending case with Eng Chris Ekpenyong at the tribunal.

The Uncommon Transformer has already seen the handwriting on the wall and has decided to  throw in the towel ahead of time. After all,   a bird at hand. ,they say is worth two in the bush.

The PDP chieftain further  disclosed that   there is no basis for comparison between the former governor and the incumbent since Gov Udom Emmanuel still has another four years to perfect his completion agenda,  but assured that Mr Integrity is a silent,  sincere and God fearing achiever and operator who does not blow his trumpet or hug the headlines.

He was full of praises for the present state leadership and is very confident that when Gov Udom completes his tenure,  Akwa Ibom State will become the industrialization hub bub of the nation.

He thanked the media practitioners for finding time to rejoice with him on his new appointment, despite their tight schedules and sued for continuous partnership and collaboration between the fourth estate of the realm and the government of the day.

He added that since no man is infallible,  his office welcomes constructive criticisms and also used the occasion to brief the press on the vision for the Ibom Air.
