TRIBUNAL DEFEAT: EKET SENATORIAL DICTRICT LEADERS URGE EKERE TO SHEATH SWORD

The Elders and Stakeholders of Akwa Ibom South , Eket Senatorial District have commended Governor Udom Emmanuel over the judicial confirmation of his victory.

He has equally urged the loser, Obong Nsima Ekere to embrace the open arms of the Governor and join hands in developing the state.

Reacting to the ruling of the Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal, the leader of the district Chief Nduese Essien said the victory was an affirmation of the unanimous votes freely given to the Governor last March.

Both Ekere and Emmanuel hail from Eket Senatorial District.

Chief Nduese Essien said the Governor will now be less distracted in his bid to develop Akwa Ibom for the better.

The Eket Senatorial District leader advised Ekere against going further on appeal saying it would not bring any good to the state.

Chief Essien explained that should the case be pushed to the appellate and apex court, it would another five months of legal and media confrontations involving supporters of the two parties, and the energy that would have been used in delivering more projects and programmes to the Senatorial District and the state at large, would be distracted.

He said, with the apex court in consideration, the winner of the petition will then be left with only three years to now set to work, a development which he was not happy about.
