Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has received encomiums from Members of the 7th State Assembly following his commitment and determination towards ensuring signature projects becomes a reality.
The Lawmakers, in their various submission commended the State Chief Executive, noting that he had members of his Cabinet were carefully selected base on their professionalism and capacity to deliver before assigning them their respective portfolios.
Chairman, Finance and Appropriations Committee and Member Representing Ikot-Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency in his remarks, while briefing the various MDAs that appeared before its Committee at the conference Hall of the State Assembly during the ongoing 2020 budget defense, said the essence of the budget defense exercise will enable members of the 7th Assembly to effectively monitor monies approved for the purpose of ensuring proficiency and accountability during Budget implementations by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) when passed into law.
The Commissioner, Rt Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, in his briefing said the Ministry had exceeded its targeted revenue for year 2019 by 69 percent noting that N43,436,745,890 is the ministry's capital budgetary proposal for 2020.
The Commissioner outlined the Ministry's achievements in the year under review to include taking construction of the 21 storey intelligent building to the glass facade installation as well as advance stages of Mechanical and electrical installations, 55% completion of the taxi way two at the Victor Attah International Airport,100 percent airfield lights upgrade at the airport as well as
as well as I’m going works on the instrument landing system, completion of work at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel, Ikot Ekpene to Marriot groups standards and
Other achievements,
according to the Rt. Hon. Etteh were the incorporation of the Ibom Airlines with 3 planes plying Uyo, Lagos and Abuja routes, the on going construction of security and perimeter fence at the Victor Attah International Airport and the award of contract for and commencement of the International Terminal of the airport.
Other projects earmarked by the Ministry for 2020 as reeled out by the Commissioner includes; the completion of the International Terminal of the Victor Attah International Airport, completion of the taxi way at the airport, Completion and commissioning of the 21 storey intelligent building, maintenance works at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel, the Ibom international stadium and Victor Attah International Airport as well as the installation of safe City surveillance Monitoring and Communication Equipment, completion of work at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel, Ikot Ekpene to Marriot groups standards among others.
"The administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel is keen about standard job execution and prompt delivery of projects. By the time these projects are completed and commissioned, the people of Akwa Ibom State will have enormous reasons to always celebrate the unbeatable legacies of the present PDP administration after 2023" Etteh said.
Ette, a former Lawmaker whose Legislative landmarks hitherto remains indelible said approved revenue for 2019 was 143,250,000.00. He pointed that actual revenue made by the Ministry for Government from January to September 2019 was 242,051,667.93 which is 169% exceeding 100% of what was approved.
Rt. Hon. Etteh, equally hinted that two aircrafts are expected in the fleets of Ibom Airline before the end of December 2019. He added that the on going construction of security and perimeter fence at the Victor Attah International Airport is another major target.
