UNWANTA CONGRATULATES GOV. EMMANUEL OVER VICTORY AT APPEAL COURT

Archbishop (Dr.) Andrew Unwanta
The Chairman of Akwa Ibom House of Assembly Service Commission, His Grace Archbishop (Dr.) Andrew Unwanta, has congratulated Governor Udom Emmanuel on his victory at the Appeal Court sitting in Calabar.

The Commission Chairman, who is also the International President of Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance (ACA) commended the judgment of the five-man panel presided over by Justice Adzira Gana Mshelia, describing it as a victory for democracy and an affirmation of the will of the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Speaking with newsmen in his office in Uyo on Thursday, after the judgement of the Appeal Court, Unwanta said, "Noting and nobody would upturn the victory of Udom Emmanuel in the March 9, 2019 governorship election. It should be noted that during my 60th birthday celebration in 2017, I had prophesied openly that Governor Udom Emmanuel would win a second term in office as Governor despite all odds.

"Concerning this judgment of the Appeal Court, I am not surprised because I knew that the appellate court would certainly validate the popular choice of the Akwa Ibom people.

"Akwa Ibom people voted massively for Governor Emmanuel during the March 9 governorship election. So, this judgements of the Appeal Court is a confirmation of the earlier judgment of the Tribunal and is a clear victory for democracy and the rule of law. I congratulate my Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel."

Unwanta also congratulated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for remaining committed to the ideals of true democracy and for the success of its elected members both at the elections petition tribunals and at the Appeal Court.
The Etinan born politician also seized the opportunity to appreciate Governor Emmanuel for "his efforts at industrializing the State and creating wealth and opportunities for the people."

He also thanked him for building numerous roads in Akwa Ibom State, especially the ongoing Ekom Iman - Etinan road project.

He prayed that God should protect the governor and help him, in 2023, to choose a successor that will build on his achievements in office .
