...Calls on FG to develop A'Ibom State in line with Local content Policy

The Member Representing Eket/Esit Eket/Ibeno/ONNA Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Pat Ifon, has reiterated his commitment towards ensuring that youths of the area are justifiably engaged by Oil servicing companies operating in the area.
Hon. Ifon noted that Eket Federal Constituency being the resource base of the Country and the State has not been fairly treated and the youths are not benefiting inline with Local content policy. He asserted that it is imperative for the people to speak in one voice in order to drive home development and as well benefits from their natural resources while promising to assiduously legislate laws that will help reduce poverty level in his Federal Constituency to minimal.
The Lawmaker gave the assurances Monday, while addressing newsmen at his Eket residence during a media chat. He said his predecessor had initiated a bill for the establishment of a higher Institution in the Federal Constituency which he assured of following up to see to its reality before he leaves office. Stating the importance of a Federal Institution to be located in Eket Federal Constituency, Hon. Ifon explained that it will help combat the numerous challenges of poverty and as well reduced crime through job creation.
"In keeping to my campaign promises of empowering my people sustainably, I am already in a dialogue with my colleagues for our youths to be professionally trained in Small and Medium Scale businesses after which funds will be made available by the Bank of Industry for them to access in order for them to become entrepreneurs and self employed" Ifon stated.
He listed the employment opportunities he has successfully facilitated for 16 people from his Constituency into various Federal Government Agencies and parastatals as some of the achievements he has recorded within his six months in office. He hinted that before the end of April, five more people will receive their appointment letters and would resume at their various work post.
"As a stakeholder who has been in the party and has contributed immensely in building and strengthening of the party which its dividends to the electorates has been of positive significant cutting across board, practically I have rise to ensure sustainable dividends of democracy is felt by the people of Eket Federal Constituency without consideration to ethnicity or afinity" Hon. Ifon assured.
On the issue of DPR certification which has been one of the major obstacles barring skilled and trained youths from the area to be gainfully employed by Oil servicing Companies, he said such challenges will soon become history.
"We have had series of discussions with the Management of ExxonMobil to determine exact certifications required from our youths for their services to be engaged to work both onshore and offshore, and in the process of our meetings, ExxonMobil has as a matter of clarity disassociated themselves from the so called DPR charges required by Oil servicing Companies". He said
The lawmaker however Called on the President Buhari led-Federal Government to rise to the rescue of Akwa Ibom people by considering the construction of deplorable Calabar Itu Road project and completion of the Eket section of the East West Road top priority.
"It is a global embarrassment that Oil producing State have been relgated and barred from benefiting from their produce. It is plausible that the Federal Government urgently rise to ensure the lapses is filled" he added.
He further call for the establishment of Oil Mineral Producing Commission in Akwa Ibom State explaining that it is imperative and constitutional while appealing to relevant stakeholders to partner and encourage the Governor to make it realizable.
He commended the State Governor, HE Deacon Udom Emmanuel for restoring peace to the land thereby ranking it most peaceful City in Nigeria and West Africa. This to him was one of the determining factor that saw PDP through the elections with landslide victory.
