NisafetyE DEPUTY NATIONAL CHAIRMAN CALLS FOR SPEEDY PASSAGE OF A'KS SAFETY COMMISSION BILL INTO LAW.

The deputy National Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NisafetyE), Engr. Akaninyene Ekong, has stated that prompt passage of the proposed  Akwa Ibom State Safety Commission bill into law will further enhance the regulation of safety practice and as well boost the State economy.


Engr. Ekong who spoke during the Occupational Health and Safety  Conference (IOHS) held at Oriental Hotel, Lagos, which had as its theme; Shaping the Future of Occupational Health and Safety in Africa, said the Occupational Safety  Conference enables Safety professionals to share  knowledge, educate and advise people on how to assess and control risks and hazards,
Provides a full understanding of your responsibilities for safety and health for safer workplace in the future.

Speaking further, he noted that the proposed AKS Safety Commission Bill sponsored by the Member Representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh, if passed into law will aide in Promoting the inculcation of Safety regulations in Nigeria and beyond.

The NisafetyE deputy national Chairman, at the conference made a presentation and reviewed/summarized other presentations as a Rapporteur, a situation the International Labour Organization (ILO) representatives lauded hiis proficiency in Safety profession.


Engr. Ekong, further acknowledged the positive legislative legacies of the 7th Assembly  under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey. He called on the Chairman House Committee on Works and Transport, Rt. Hon. David Lawrence, to liase with other lawmakers and relevant stakeholders for a  public hearing on the proposed Safety Commission Bill to enable stakeholders and the general public to fairly contribute.


The IOSH conference organized by IOSH UK, had Bev Messinger, Chief Executive Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, National Deputy Chairman of NisafetyE, Engr. Akaninyene Ekong and other ILOs from the UK and across African Countries in attendance
