The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyang-eyen, has stated that the ongoing construction of Isolation centre for Quarantine And Prevention of Infectious Disease, located at Ituk Mbang in Uruan LGA is a world Class Structure with modern facilities.


The works boss, who was at the project site earlier today with a team of Journalists to inspect Level of work done, informed that work at the project site is both day and night. He  expressed satisfaction at the percentage of work so far recorded within the time frame of one month from which the project initially commenced.

He commended the State Chief Executive, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for funding the  project, stating that Contractor handling the project would not have any excuse not to deliver on time as promised.

Briefing Journalists, the Works boss who is equally a prominent member of Covid-19 Economy Reconstruction Committee in the State explained that the design for the  Isolation centre is inline with global standard.

He said the project is a 300 capacity  designed to contain Modernize Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Administrative block, Clinical Laboratories, 20 residential rooms for Doctors, Control room where Doctors could dump their already used PPEs before and after attending to patients, two generating sets of 150kva and 200kva capacity, modern facilities, canteen that could contain over 40 persons and Intercom lines for internal communication between Doctors and Nurses among others.

Mr. Inyang-enyen, whose tenure as works Commissioner has recorded unbeatable landmark in the area of road infrastructure urged gentlemen of the press to always be factual, balance and professional in their reportage.

He posited that development, unity and progress of any State or Nation is anchored on what the people read and hear from members of the Fourth Estate of the realm.

The Commissioner maintained that the construction of the Isolation Centre by the Akwa Ibom State Government led by Mr. Udom Emmanuel is a true reflection of love, compassion and commitment on the part of the Governor which he said is worthy. He added that the project upon completion would enable the State to tackle outbreak of any kind of infectious Disease in the future.

Reacting to questions on the possibility of prompt completion and delivery of the project for optimal use, Mr. Inyang-enyen, said what would have been his biggest challenge for the delay of the project would have been funding, while thanking His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel for assiduously funding the project which he admitted is the reason for consistent speed of work recorded.


The Commissioner however lauded Governor Emmanuel's effort towards ensuring a safer and serene environment during the lockdown period caused by COVID-19 Pandemic. He advised citizens to continue in observing social distancing order and compulsory use of face masks when going out of their homes.

"The level of our hygiene determines our health status, therefore, I am appealing to all of us to adhere to Government's regulations and Medical precautionary measures in order to curtail the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic in our dear State" He stated.
