HON. AKANIYENE TOMMEY IKOTT, also known as "ALABA", as many prefer to call him, reveals a personage with uncommon blend of varied superlative qualities, seasoned with wide range of exposures which is way too seismic to be rivaled.
Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott, a native of Afia Nsit village in Eket LGA and currently a serving councillor representing ward 2 central.
Hon. Akan Tommey who was elected on the platform of PDP to serve in the legislative chamber by his constituents and was unanimously elected by his colleagues as the Majority Leader of the legislative council for his humble, honest, hardworking, matured and sound intellectual ability, capacity, competence and capability in the management of affairs, organization and people
He has been rated one of the most vibrant and effective councillor in Akwa Ibom State in terms of representation and oversight functions.
Hon. Akan Tommey holds a B.Sc in Social Works from University of Calabar and a Diploma in Local Government Administration from the same University.
As a councillor, he has drilled boreholes for different villages in his ward, renovated town halls, school buildings and also sponsored some youths in vocational training as well as equipping them with tools for self sustenance .
Hon. Akan Tommey who has been in active politics since 2007 has been able to reach out to his constituents despite lack of funds in the local government council.
Some of his achievements as councillor include:
* construction of class room blocks.
* Sponsored so many people on skills acquisition,
* Renovated houses for people,
* Empowered more than100 people with financial assistance to boast their businesses.
* Constructed borehole water with water tank in Uda Iko Eket, Osiok, Etebi Ikot Udota.
* Renovated town hall in Iko Eket.
*Gave out Scholarship to Eket students.
In times like this, Eket needs a man with an impeccable character and strength to steer the ship of leadership and help delivers on its set goals of creating wealth for the people.
As a Councilor, he has achieved monumental feat through human capital development and as a Chairman, he will do much more.
He is widely accepted as a man of stable character, highly respectful, loyal and a man of Peace. He is believed to be the only one at the moment that possesses the needed attributes to man the affairs of Eket Local Government Area as the Chairman.
Akaniyene Tommey Ikott who is married with children was a successful businessman before venturing into grassroot politics.
