The Coordinating Committee for the organization of a Capacity Building Workshop for Akwa Ibom Lawyers is proud to announce the commencement of a series of capacity building workshop sessions for legal practitioners in Akwa Ibom State.
The knowledge-sharing sessions expected to run every Friday and Saturday till August, 2021, commenced Friday, June 18, 2021, with a seasoned legal practitioner, Mr. Edo Ukpong taking the lawyers through a virtual training on the topic “Ethics in the Legal Profession”. Mr. Ukpong is one of Nigeria’s few legal luminaries with expertise in Competition and Regulatory Law and is well reputed in areas such as energy and natural resources, corporate structuring and international business framework.
A cross section of seasoned legal practitioners and other professionals, majority of whom hail from Akwa Ibom State, have graciously accepted to volunteer their time, resources and experience to impart knowledge to the lawyers. Topics to be analyzed over the period of the programme will include:

We invite the Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) across the various branches in the state to seize the opportunity provided by this initiative to be part of the effort to deepen professionalism in Akwa Ibom State.
This Capacity Building Workshop for Akwa Ibom Lawyers was initiated by Mr. Udom Inoyo, former Vice Chairman, ExxonMobil Companies in Nigeria, who in his keynote address during the 2021 NBA Uyo Branch Week, had recommended, among other things, capacity building for lawyers in specialized 21st-century skill areas and pledged to utilize his contacts to that end.
The programme is enabled by Mr. Udom Inoyo, facilitated by NBA Branches in Uyo, Eket, Ikot Ekpene and Oron and jointly coordinated by James Essien, Esq., former Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Abasumo Ekong Bassey, Esq. and Emmanuel Etti, Esq.
