GOV UDOM'S AIDE CHARGES CHRISTIAN YOUTHS TO EMBRACE ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR SOCIETAL ADVANCEMENT. .

Christian youths in Akwa Ibom State have been encouraged to see entrepreneurship as a tool for self reliance and emancipation. The Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Entrepreneurial Development, Mrs Meflyn Anwana made this call over the weekend while speaking at an enterprise development event organized by House on the Rock, Uyo on Saturday, 19th February 2021.


Anwana, who was one of the resource persons at the event organized by David’s company of House on the Rock, Uyo, and  tagged “Ideation 2.0”, listed innovation in entrepreneurial pursuits as the key factor in distinguishing businesses. The Governor’s Aide pointed participants at the event in the direction of 2030 and 2060 global entrepreneurial goals and targets, and urged them to broaden their perspectives so as to key into solving global challenges and tapping from the billions of dollars that accrue to solution providers of international scale and capacity. She urged participants to think out of the box  inspired by the Dakkada creed and the entrepreneurial drive of the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration. 


The well attended event also had as speakers: Mr William Anwana, CEO, Hajem Consults, Mr Akan Ebong – Enterprise Development Expert, Ms. Lucy Ekpenyong – Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of SMEDAN, representatives from Ibom FADAMA Microfinance Bank, among others.

Declaring the February edition of the entrepreneurial development event open, the Uyo Branch Pastor of House on the Rock, Pastor Nyambi Akpet Urged all participants at the programme to attend with open minds, ready to learn, unlearn and relearn. Akpet said speed and adaptability are the twain qualities that will distinguish businesses in the 21st century. “It is no longer the big that swallows the small, but the fast that swallows the slow” he quipped.


Other speakers at the event then took turns to educate and alter negative perspectives in the minds of the participants at the event. The David’s company event in February, tagged Ideation 2.0 was a two-days programme designed to capture ideation, enterprise design, market trends, Branding, Industry overview, sales funnels and marketing strategy, business basics, financial literacy, use of technology, grant writing and access to funding.


High point of the event was the disbursement of two hundred thousand naira in business support grants to beneficiaries after a pitch session.  Winners of the grant include: Morrexx T & Co, Mr Elisha J. Elisha, Mrs Grace Unwana-Abasi and Beejay couture.
