A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Federal lawmaker, Barr. Bassey Dan-Abia jnr, on Friday, advocated justice and safety of five aboriginal coastal Local Government areas in order to have increased rural development, promote and sustain peace in the State.

Barr. Abia, also called for observance of rule of law by both the government and citizens, urging the State government to boldly and justifiably intervene, even as he lauded the sterling leadership of the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, which he acknowledged with great delight.

Speaking as a statesman during a thank-you visit by Governor Umo Eno, to leaders of Eket senatorial district, held at the Nta Isip, Eket residence of a former Minister of the Federal Republic and Political leader of Eket senatorial district, Chief Nduese Essien, Barr. Abia, who is the Secretary General of the apex socio-cultural organization in Eket Federal Constituency -Ekid People's Union (EPU), said,

"Sir, a cursory evaluation of the last election clearly shows that more than 90% of the votes of this federal constituency was the youth. That was not a surprise, it was not  out of luck or something improbable that cannot be repeated, we did it for a very specific reasons, we were intentional, we were consciously deliberate in supporting you because we see you as our own and it therefore means that we know that you know us, understand our challenges and problems"

"In four months as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, you have done exceedingly well for us to want  to say that we would support you yet again in 2027 for a second term but there is a caveat; all is not well with Eket Federal Constituency" He stated.

Barr. Abia, who doubles as the Chairman Governing Council College of Education, Afaha Nsit and Deputy political leader of Esit Eket, pointed clearly of an existing threatening debilitating issue particularly amongst the Five aboriginal coastal Local Government Areas which comprises of (Eket, Mkpat Enin, Ikot Abasi, ONNA and Esit Eket).

"We cannot play politics with this threatening issue. It has to be an end to this litigation and this issue is threatening our peace, is  threatening our unity, is threatening our wellbeing, it is so politically debilitating that it is even threatening our political stability, consistency and even our political loyalty" Abia posited.

"Sir, the five local government needs your intervention and it has to be now. We advise and implore you to be bold,  expect you to be courageous, firm and just for  peace to prevail over disharmony"
