By: Ndifreke P. Akpan

Governor Udom Emmanuel has thanked the Urue Offong/Oruko people for their resolve to overwhemingly support his second term re-election bid.

At the Divine Mandate Campaign exercise in Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, Tuesday, the Governor urged them to vote massively for PDP and announced plans to provide more social amenities for the people.

The Governor who described his visit to the area as home coming with his people, described the Urue Offong Oruko people as the brain box of Oro nation with a parade of outstanding intellectuals.

Governor Emmanuel said that aside from road infrastructure, he has also addressed the electricity challenge to ensure that the people have constant power supply.

He told the people about the delay in the take off of the full exploration for oil and gas in the Local Government Area, especially the expected approval from the NNPC, and urged them to vote Atiku Abubakar and all the PDP candidates in the elections.

Presenting their positions in separate remarks, the people of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area had reaffirmed their support for the re-election of Governor Emmanuel for his continuity in office.
The resolution, according to the people, was sequel to the track record of performance by the Governor across the state within the three and a half years on the saddle.

The consensus decision of the people was announced at the Divine Mandate Campaign rally which took place at the Methodist Central School, Oyubia.

The Chapter Chairman, Hon. Edeke Okpo Edeke, Council Chairman, Hon Umana Efombruh, former President of Oro Union, Dr Effiong Edunam, Professor Peter Esuh and Mrs Atim Okpoyo, all said that Governor Emmanuel has justified the mandate through the even distribution of Industrialization projects.

The prevailing peace in the state, and the public utilities provided in the state, the people said, are the selling points that anchor the Divine Mandate.

The people thanked the Governor for the road network approved for the Local Government Area.

Dr Edet Efretuei, a former governorship aspirant of the APC, from the area who defected with over 5000 supporters, said he left APC because those who previously perpetuated injustice in PDP had taken their trade to APC.

Efretuei said that the APC had no genuine plans for the state and urged everyone to support Governor Udom Emmanuel who has done well.

Earlier, the Director General, Divine Mandate, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga expressed appreciation to the people of Urue Offong/Oruko for the confidence in PDP and sued for more votes in the elections to guarantee success for the party.

The State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo said he was overwhelmed by the reception accorded the party and assured that the support will not be in vain.

He presented candidates for the Senatorial, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly to the people and handed over the party flags to them.

The candidates, Dr Mrs Akon Eyakenyi for Senate, Chief Nse Ekpenyong, House of Representatives and Hon. Asuquo Archibong who were earlier presented with the party flags by the state PDP Chairman, promised to work and ensure the victory of PDP in the elections.

Meanwhile, the Oyoku road, leading to Mbokpu in Urue Offong/ Oruko Local Government Area is to be constructed within a short time.

Governor Emmanuel who announced this at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Urue Offong/Oruko, HRM, Offiong (Engineer) Effiong R. Amasi (Otong Ama 1), thanked the Royal Father for the peace in his domain and said the road to the Monarch's residence has to be constructed for a befitting access to the Palace.
