Dr. Usoro Akpanusoh

By - Jerryz Edoho, Uyo

The gubernatorial and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in FULGA Road, Uyo had set out today, Tuesday 24th September, 2019 for the ruling in the case between Mr.Eyo  Inyang-Abia,  APC State House of Assembly Candidate for Esit Eket/ Ibeno State Constituency and Dr. Usoro Akpanusoh, who's the present Member representing same State Constituency at the State House of Assembly.

The petition which had challenged the authenticity of the election result duly  announced by INEC in favor the PDP Candidate, Dr. Usoro Akpanusoh was today strucked out for lacking in merit.

While delivering the judgement, the three Tribunal Panel maintained that the Petitioner throughout the proceedings was unable to prove his purported claims that there were series of irregularities and electoral malpractices in the election, stating that the Court which is the last hope for the common man cannot draw out hypothesis on a case that's dependent on hear say. On this ground, the Petition was dismissed.

Reacting to this verdict,  Rt. Hon. Akpanusoh expresses his deep gratitude to God who has been by him from the beginning of the case till date.

He extends his gratitude to his constituents and party, PDP who have been by him from the D-DAY of the election throughout the court session. Maintaining that without them, the journey would not have been this smooth.  He therefore reinstates his unalloyed commitment to provide effective, efficient representation and loyalty for his  constituents and Party, PDP.

"The reaffirmation  of my election victory by the election petition tribunal is to further substantiate that you overwhelmingly endorsed my mandate  renewal as your representative. I hereby reiterate my commitment and determination towards ensuring greater unity, harmonious  coexistence and development of our constituency  through my legislative engagement".

He called on his opponent, Mr. Inyang-Abia to forget about the stress and challenges they encountered during the electioneering and Court Processes, joining hand with him to make his Constituency great.

"As a politician who do not want to win alone, in a case where the winner usually takes it all it all, i hereby extend my sincere hand of fellowship to my brother from other side who couldn't win at this time to join me as we work together in fulfilling the dreams of our people.I rather see this victory as divine and a true reflection of our people, it's my believe that you and i will see  the tribunal judgement as  no victor, no vanquish; for the development of our people". Akpanusoh said.

He further appreciated the political leader of the Constituency, Mr. Benjamin Udobia and the Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpollump Ette for their show of love and support given to him during the race. He pray God to keep and sustain them as he remains loyal and committed to the task of delivering effective representation.
