A well know author, John C. Maxwell, opined that "Great leaders don't use people so that they can win. They lead people so that they all can win together"
I won't be adjudged "off track" if I state that Prince Uwah falls under Maxwell's definition of a great leader. He believes in leading people so that they all can win together.
Going down memory lane, the famous Attan Offot Prince, Otuekong Enobong Uwah, began his political career fully when he clinged the position of Deputy President, National Youth Council of Nigeria. When the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Chief God'swill Akpabio took the reins of power as Governor, Prince Enobong Uwah was appointed Special Assistant to the Governor. He held the position diligently, and later rose to the posiition of Commissioner in charge of Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources.
As Commissioner then, Prince Uwah created Jobs for over 2,500 Akwa Ibomites, through the introduction of "Green Brigade". A group of persons organised for the purpose of making the environment clean and serene.
It is also on record that, in 2015, when Enobong Uwah was reappointed as Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal by the current Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel, Anua Hospital was revived, DAKKADA Secretariat at Udoudoma Avenue, that served as hideout for criminals was taken over, rejigged, constructed and delivered for optimum use.
As the Executive Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), before he came on board, the Authority had no Permanent Secretariat for 32 years, in a bid to salvage the situation, Prince Uwah came in with his usual winds of change. He spearheaded the construction of a modern Secretariat for the establishment through the Udom Emmanuel led government, and today, the Authority can boast of a functional permanent Secretariat.
In his quest for excellence, Uwah has put in place modalities that will aid the full implementation of the digitization policy. He has collaborated with relevant bodies like the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Nigerian Institute of Town Planners(NTIP) for the development of the Uyo Capital City. The Agency is also working assiduously to review the 1998 UCCDA Building Regulations in oder to align with what is obtainable in the modern world.
Enobong Uwah's performance is top-notch. He's result oriented, focused and witty. As a certified Public Administrator, he combines the Administrative processes enunciated by Gulick and Urwick - Planning, Organising, Staffing, Directing, Coordinating, Reporting and Budgeting (PODSCORB) to deliver his assignments.
I'll also mention that, Prince Enobong has played a pivotal role in the unity of political stakeholders in Uyo Local Government Area. His commitment, passion for service and loyalty stands him out.
In all, I see a leader who is creating impact through Leadership.
